From: Alex | posted: 06.09.2000 11:22 Try changing the batteries, cleaning the IR contact lens (on the keyboard and the receiver) and switching off any other electronic gadgetry (there shouldn't be any interference, but you never know). Also, make sure there's a good line of sight between the keyboard and the receiver. If none of that works, the unit is probably broken, and you should contact the supplier. |

From: Dale | posted: 07.09.2000 21:41 Dear Alex, thank you fro responding to my problem, I already did all the things you mentioned before I wrote you, keyboard is still doing the same thing. You said to get in touch with the supplier, I bought it at Office Depot, is this where I should return it?. Thanks again for your help. Dale |

From: Alex | posted: 11.09.2000 08:33 It's certainly the place to start. They may have their own warranty, but it's more likely that they'll use the manufacturer's warranty (assuming the keyboard is still within the warranty period). Also note that credit card companies provide some cover on purchases, although I think there's a short-ish time limit on this. |

From: keir | posted: 13.09.2000 10:26 Reminds me of a problem I had with an Amstrad word processor a number of years back. I bought it when I was a student because it was pretty neat -- notebook size with half height VGA screen. However, I'd type and mysterious characters would appear on screen inbetween sentences. Or the cursor would start moving about of its own accord. I swapped it twice at Tandy's but to no avail. Tandy's salesmuppets would try it and nothing would happen. Letters were exchanged with Amstrad's Customer Services Manager who basically accused me of being too fast a typist and therefore bringing the problem on myself (Amstrad went bust shortly after this, I think -- wonder why?). I'm a 80wpm typist -- fast but only just a little higher than average. I eventually got my money back from Tandy and bought a proper notebook from Morgan's (which brought its own set of problems but that's another story). The problem has something to do with keyboard input timing -- has Dale tried to alter this setting in his BIOS (ie from 8MHz to 16MHz)? |
