Apart from having my parallel port in ECP how else is my parallel port supose to be set up? Thanks

Probably not, at a guess. There are some other figures in the BIOS settings box that can be changed but I've never touched them and always got the things working right (I've written a number of MP3 player group tests recently so have had quite a number attached to my PC).
If ECP doesn't work, try switching over to EPP mode. And if that doesn't work try Standard (or Bi-Directional) mode. And if that doesn't work then you might have a duff unit.
