From: kopfjaeger | posted: 30.07.2005 19:13 Troubleshooting for Win98se ScanMaster Deluxe ver. 7.0 Visioneer 5820 USB scanner [no unlock switch] Make sure you unplug the Scanner from the PC and reboot. Uninstall all your Visioneer and Scanmaster software, reboot. Now, install the software. DO NOT ATTACH SCANNER YET Once software suite is installed, reboot. NOW install your USB and power connectors. Click on the PaperPort icon File ->Select [twain] source Select your scanner Acquire --> warms up lamp --> Preview --> Scan It worked for me. All this is distilled from long hours of mental anguish. Occasionally it will get a wild hair, requiring a reboot, Start-> Run -> msconfig -> Startup -> uncheck those applications not absolutely necessary. This is a very unscientific way of freeing up memory, but it has worked for me. Your mileage may vary |

I have unistalled the software and reinstalled with no results. If anyone knows how to solve the problem let me know. cunderhill@houston.rr.com |

From: Charles Underhill | posted: 04.09.2005 13:11 As I indicated above I was experiencing the problem with an error stating to unlock the scanner. I unloaded all of the scanner software and removed the scanner from the equipment list. I followed the exact instructions found on the Visioneer WEB page. I then removed the driver which came with the scanner and downloaded the driver supposedly for the 5820 and loaded that driver. Nothing worked. I took the scanner back to the store where I purchased it and they told me the lamp drive was probably stuck. However, they gave me another scanner I connected it without any changes to the software and bingo the thing scanned properly. If you are having this problem I suggest you go back to the place you purchased the scanner and ask for another unit. Chuck |
