Looking on Times website I will need to pay £59.99 for the reload CD however I was wondering if you could suggest where else to get them or where I might find one cheaper. Thank you Kim |

From: Chris Rose | posted: 04.04.2005 22:29 Help some one please! My Time laptop came with a reload cd. Unfortunately i had to try and use it today. It starts to work fine but shotly after says there was and error with my 'A:' drive and stops! However, my laptop doesnt have an 'A:' drive (or any floppy drive)'. The £1 min support line was no help and just suggested i get a new reload cd. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks rose_chris@yahoo.com |

From: Beejay | posted: 30.04.2005 11:15 I was asked to look at a Time 8375 laptop by a friend (it belongs to his son-in-law) who has had nothing but grief with it. On power-up it would go into a rebooting loop. He went through the usual channels - ending up with threats of legal action - & got nowhere, so I've ended up with the job of 'looking at it.' I decided that a re-format & re-install was his best option, since he would not hear of obtaining a restore CD, so I installed XP Pro. It went on ok, but of course I needed to find several hardware drivers. Went to Time's support pages, but there was no mention of this model. (Surprise!) After trawling various forums, I found drivers for all except one. I still have a Network Controller issue in Device Manager. The software I found installed drivers for a VIA Compatible Fast Ethernet Adapter, but I think this is a different issue. The device ID is ven_11c1&dev_ab34, but I can't find working drivers for it. Anybody? Btw, the laptop itself hasn't misbehaved at all since I installed XP Pro! |

From: Stuart Cliff | posted: 01.07.2005 18:13 Hi Everyone Been reading this thread with great interest as looking to reinstall a friends PC after a horrid crash come virus (i.e. didn't find anything but PC packed in after a disk defrag) but managed to recover most of the files..... Anyway to cut a long story short he shelled out for the reload disk, and upon running the disk it appears to restore everything off the image and gives a return code. But on rebooting the startup appears to confirm there is a boot on C drive, but refuses to load, just giving a flashing '-' in the top corner.... Even after leaving for Hours (All obvious bits done in the Bios) I thought my mate may have updated the bios at some point; so tried installing some of the earlier versions from the Gigabyte (MBoard) website, but on those the Reload would refuse to load, giving the 'tied to manufacturer' type message, so returned back to the bios that I had originally backed up! which it appears to like... The Mboard is a gigbyte GA-VKMLS, displaying a string of 62-2002-001199-0010111-040201-KM266A-GA7VKMLS The box has a XP licence code on it, but my install disk is Retail./.. Just wondered if you guys had any suggestions that you'd be willing to put my way as dont want to resort to any ahem 'infringement' and would rather get his reload disk working so he aint blown £40!! As may be some beers and much kudos in it for me to get this sorted.... Any assistance greatfully appreciated! Many Thanks in advance!!! Regards, Stuart |

From: Robert | posted: 06.09.2005 20:05 hi I don't know if anyone on here can help me . . . any help is very much appreciated. I have a Time laptop, 3 yrs old, hard disk I think is corrupted in some areas. When I start it up, I get : "We apologize for the inconvienience but Windows did not start successfully blah blah blah ......" Whatever option i choose (Safe Mode, w/ networking, w/ command prompt, Last Known Good Configuration or Start Windows normally all do a similar thing. I get the Windows screen with the green bar going across then after a bit a blue screen flashes up then it re-boots (doing the same thing again). I can't see any of the text on the text for long enough to read it. I tried the orange "original recovery diskette" with no joy, nor with the Reload CD. The orange disk throws up the following when I click on "restore master image": "The following file is missing or corrupted: C:/image/tools/himem.sys There is an error in your config.sys file on line 30. Invalid drive specification. Scandisk is complete. Invalid drive specification. Bad command or file name. ***ERROR*** IMAGE FILES NOT FOUND [RECOVERY DISKETTE] A:\" The reload CD refuses to boot. But I guess because I can get part of the Windows XP screen, I must have some uncorupted files on my hard disk left. I can't work out where to go from here. As I said, any help is apreciated - please contact robertnottingham at hotmail dot com Thanks in advance, Robert |
