From: DH | posted: 21.12.2005 17:42 Uninstalled GoBack from a Pentium 3 running Win 2000 Pro. This machine was also running Norton Internet Security and Anti Virus. Lost the ability to boot. Can now only boot from floppy emergency disk. The GoBack uninstall caused problems with the files NTLDR, boot.ini and others. The Windows Installer now starts up every time I try to open almost any type of file. The Norton Anti Virus and Internet Security lost some functionality... (It was working very well). I've wasted a couple of hundred hour already. I'm finished with Norton forever. rsmdh@yahoo.com |

From: Nate | posted: 23.12.2005 00:13 I'm not sure about the newer versions, but be aware that in the past GoBack did not work with Raid (striped) drives. This cause many problems for me before I figured this out, because it was not made obviouse or clear on the box, the manual or the install. |

From: Grrrr | posted: 01.01.2006 11:59 I have had two differnet PCs with GoBack on them screw up in a week, one was win98 and the other XP home (neither mine) can't start windows, can't disable goback and have to recover the data so I can't reinstall. The website is no help. All I get is "0x16 norton has detected your system is unstable and will reboot" then the system locks up. not impressed. |

From: Geoff R | posted: 14.01.2006 14:33 I had same problem, brand new nx6125 compaq, 1st sw installed was systemworks 2006. GoBack corrupted my boot sector. Symantec support knows the problem well. Created a boot disk with their repair file, still no joy, booted as before....only option, rebuild disk from scratch! Symantec suck...this is a known problem widely reported, why dont they withdraw goback? |

From: I Fixed It! | posted: 14.01.2006 18:04 Running Windows XP on Alienware - tried the Ctrl Alt G at every opportunity not knowing when to try it - got a blue screen saying "You are trying to disable GoBack press F to continue" I did that, it did a chkdsk and booted up fine - went to remove programs and was given the option to delete just GoBack and that's what I did - no problems since - Good Luck and try the Ctrl Alt G - I had it fixed in less than an hour. |

From: bc | posted: 25.01.2006 18:55 Everything was working great on my Sony desktop. I upgraded to Norton IS 06 and install GoBack. Everything worked until I got a message while I was trying to access PMagic that I had to disable GoBack. I started disableing but lost power during the process. Now it loops between the GoBack screen (error ox15) and Win XP HE. Ive tried GoBack_prog.exe .. no luck. Ive tried Ctl-Alt-G .. no luck. Sometimes I can almost boot to add/remove before it reboots. If I can make it to add/remove GoBack thats what I will try next. ...Spent 45min in Norton tech queque...no answer. Any other ideas? Help Please |

From: Jeff E | posted: 31.01.2006 16:30 Many thanks to Robert Knapp who posted resolving this by using Ctl Alt G. I had just purchased a brand new Toshiba M65-S9092 that eperienced the bootup failure after installing goback. I tried everything including competely reformatting by using the Toshiba system recovery disc's that came with the laptop and even that did not release goback from the stranglehold it had on my machine. What a disappointment considering I paid Best-Buy to setup my laptop and install anti-virus software and spyware protection which I had to re-install myself. Not being a computer expert by any means this issue was most stressfull and took about 4 hours to resolve. Thanks again to Robert as I was out of options when I came across his recommendation. |
