From: Nicolle | posted: 15.05.2006 19:52 I had the same problem..it crashed my 2 hard-disks, deleted my partitions, won't have the xp install...It didn't even wanted to let me format them...sayd that it didn't recognize the format type..the only thing that worked was entering BIOS...Try Hiren's boot cd..about 50 Mb, i have it in 2 versions, it takes a while but with the multitude of software in that cd i recovered both my hard-disks(10 partitions), less the partition which had windows installed on it.I used mostly from that cd Active Partition Recovery. After that i wouldn't believe that norton software crashed my system..so i installed it again!!!!!!My stupidity.. i had to work again 2 days and i recovered again the partitions..so.. it worked for me |

From: LW | posted: 22.05.2006 14:07 Yesturday was the day from He**. I recently (about two months ago) intalled systemworks and Goback. I have had to use the goback a couple of times since installing it because of computer problems after installing downloads. Yesturday my computer started running very sluggish, as if my proccessor wasn't wanting to catch up with what I was doing. I uninstalled my security software because that is usually the cause of the problem. It is not Norton. I don't have the Norton anitvirus installed on my PC. When I reinstalled it Norton couldn't detect that I had virus protection. Frustrated I decided to uninstall systemworks 2006 thinking I would reinstall it. After I rebooted Goback came up and started uninstalling. After about two hours it was only 10 percent done and thinking there was a problem I rebooted... What a mistake! Tried to repair using my full version of Windows but it wouldn't let me. Didn't want to reformat. Have too many important files. Finally I just let it reboot and pressed the space bar when goback came up. I choose to disable goback. Put the PC aside. It took 5 hours to finish. My PC seems to be okay now. I copied all my important files to CD's. I'm wondering if Goback is still in my computer lurking somewhere and if it will cause me problems in the future. I won't be reinstalling this software.. Hubby showed me the windows marketplace and there's alot of good stuff there that is free. Software alot like some of the programs in systemworks. |

From: Austin | posted: 07.06.2006 04:14 Pressing Alt + Ctrl + G on startup saved my Compaq laptop and my life! I was stuck on the "GoBack Internal Error Failure code: gb_ui_support(1199)" cycle of death and could not boot Windows XP until I tried Alt + Ctrl + G as a last resort. Pass the word. It won't work for everyone, but it worked for me. I will leave GoBack disabled on my computer and won't risk uninstalling it--that would be a whole new can of worms I don't want to mess with. Again . . . Alt + Ctrl + G. Learn it, use it, save up to 44%. THANK YOU! |

From: Silverback | posted: 26.06.2006 20:21 GoBack is one piece of software that should be put up against a wall and shot. It all but trashed my PC and refused to let me reboot. It kept saying, "GoBack has reset your computer because it detected the system was unstable and could lead to corruption of drive C." It failed to add that it was GoBack itself that was the root cause of the instability!!!!! I spent an entire day checking out my system with various utilities and they all said the PC was fine other than a few bad sectors on the hard drive which I managed to eradicate with a Zero Fill of the drive. (Writing zeros to every disk sector). After a clean reinstall everything was fine until I installed Norton Systemworks (Including GoBack) again. I was immediately informed that my system was dangerously unstable and needed to reboot to save my hard drive from corruption!!! I am a very patient kind of guy but this was too much. I waited until the GoBack screen came up at the start of the reboot and hit the spacebar and disabled GoBack (Which took almost 10 minutes to clear the GoBack files. All 1.88 Gigabytes of it). Then.......Guess what? My PC booted without even a whimper and has been fine ever since. The best way to avoid problems with GoBack is to NOT install it....EVER!!! |

From: Darrell | posted: 16.07.2006 03:09 I just had my first wonderful experience with goback on a new Toshiba laptop. I was trying to install the version that came with Systemworks 2004. The computer failed to boot after the installation, giving me a "pxe-e53: no boot filename received" error. However, I could not get the control alt G combination to work. I much frustration, I was able to uninstall the program by starting the boot process off of the Systemworks disk. After starting to boot off of the CD, a screen asks if you want to boot off of the CD or the Hard Drive. Choosing the hard drive completed the boot process as normal, allowing removal of the program. |
