From: GerryD | posted: 16.10.2000 23:06 I want to buy my son(14) a new Ink jet printer. I haven't a clue where to start. Reading brochures is a waste of time cos they all lie! He wants a printer that will produce good quality colour pics for school projects. Some of the time he'll want to print on photo quality paper and sometimes on the cheaper paper. I'm thinking of a Canon cos of the separate ink cartridges which should save money. Bj6200 is one idea. But Ive been told hp's are very good. I want to spend up to £200 including VAT. Canon seem good value. HP gives you new heads with every cartridge but Epson don't so presumably if the Epson head clogs you bin the machine. Can someone help! I've got to buy one for this weekend!! |

From: david | posted: 17.10.2000 23:20 I have used an Epson Stylus 600 for the last three years, in colour and B/W. All four children use it for letters, homework, colour pictures, T shirts, CD labels, sticky labels and transparencies, probably two hours printing every day and it has performed absolutely faultlessly. |

From: Bret Roark | posted: 06.11.2000 18:16 I have owned three Epson printers (500, 600, and now the 880). The printheads on the 500 did clog, but that was because we did not use it for several months and when we did use it, we didn't always use inkjet paper. The 880 will produce superb images on Epson's Glossy paper, but that may be too expensive for school projects. Overall, I think Epson will give you the best quality, but not necessarily the best price. Here is a review of my Epson 880 that I wrote for another web site. Feel free to take a look. http://recommended.epinions.com/cmd-review-35A8-1701672E-39D64ADD-prod2 Hope this helps, Bret |

From: Keith Wildey | posted: 28.11.2000 20:05 I have recently bought a BJC-6200 and I cannot recommend it too highly. I do a lot of newsletter print both in colour and B/W and I find the quality superb in both, the output speed is reasonable considering the type of printing I do. The four separate ink tanks make it much cheaper than other printers (the cheapest tanks are from Viking-Direct). The other feature I particularly like is the driver software, you can customise it for various print styles and save them for future use, VERY useful. First class all round. |
