From: Dion BC | posted: 29.07.2004 18:32 I had received a hp photosmart 733 - 3.0 digital camera from my wife as a Christmas present last year. She saved her money to buy me something she assumed would be a quality and dependable camera. This was no easy feat given our income could barely afford it. I know that you probably drop that much for lunch, for you and your assistant. I have been told the definition of “insane” is attempting the same thing, time after time and expecting a different outcome. When I first contacted HP support via the web I went through the procedures to try and remedy the error codes that I observed on the camera (E 105. E 106) with no luck. Then I contacted customer support over the phone and they made me do the exact something. I explained that I had already tried this and it did not work. After the useless attempt the tech explained that this must be a “Firmware” problem and that it needed to be sent into service. They then directed to a service provider “Radio Shack” in my area. I was then notified by Radio Shack that they did not support this service. So back to HP support and the case number was assigned and I was told that for $30.00 I could have this problem fixed over the phone, which was billed to my credit card. The Tech explained to me that this was a “common problem that this happens all the time” and that “it would be fixed”. I was then directed to the tech and we went through the same process as I went through twice before. After this 3rd attempt I was told that for a “Fee” of $100.00 that I would be sent a replacement camera. Now if I wanted a 3.0 digital camera to cost me $250.00 the first 6 months of using it I would not have bought this useless HP box I now have. I am going to personally go on a campaign to every web site I can find that has reviews on this (or any HP cameras) and post this letter and do my best to explain that this was a rip off |

From: Sheena Kelley | posted: 28.11.2004 03:10 I also purchased an HP Photosmart 733 camera and within the first two days recieved the e106 error code. I brought the camera back to the store (Walmart) and they exchanged the camera for an identical one. This one worked for a couple months (which amounted to 3 uses) and then it displayed the same e106 error code. I also struggled with Tech support with no resolution to the problem. It seems that this is a common defect. |

From: Douglas B | posted: 30.11.2004 03:12 What you guys need to do is file a claim with the better business beraeu. ( http://www.bbb.org ) They will run the complaint with HP, and find the best resolution.. And to the first person who posted about this. You may want to look into filing court papers against HP! They do this alot to people. It's called, making under-rate products to get money on senseless repairs. The only thing HP makes right are printers, and that's the ONLY thing that should be bought by HP. |

From: morteltyme | posted: 05.12.2004 02:43 I too own an hp photosmart 733. The first day we took it out of the package we put brand new batteries in it and the camera batterie indicator immediately showed that the batteries were near depletion. After three pictures the camera shut down. I then turned it bak on and the batterie indicator now showed full battery life. This has been a reocuring process since we got the camera. It batteries like I hav stock in them or something, and it constantly tells me my brand new batteries are dead. I recommend this camera to anyone who wants to buy a really interesting and expensive paperweight. My hp computer does however rock; I have never had a problem with it and have had it now for quite some time. |

From: Sue Reynolds | posted: 22.12.2004 00:49 Well, guess I am glad to see I'm not the only ones they are trying to get over on. I am onto tech #4 and still nothing good has come from it. Tech #3 I think was upset with me and disconnected our conversation. My biggest problem though is when I contacted them during the warranty period, I was informed that it was not in warranty. And after speaking to another after the warranty ran out, I find out that it was covered, during that time. I guess I will have to see what #4 pulls out of her bag of tricks... |

From: James Methvin | posted: 28.01.2005 01:52 I'am late to this party but, flashed the firmware like the tech told me to. My working camers, it printed flash photos redish-that was its problem, now will not stay on. HP says , its dead ,buy a new one. Nowhere does it say on their web site that a firmwere updated might "will" kill your camera. |
