From: steve norman | posted: 05.08.2004 04:48 My JVC digital camcorder (model GR-D9ou) is displaying a message: "E01 Unit in safeguard mode, remove and reattach battery." Removing the battery has not restored functions. It seems to be a rebooting issue, but I'm stumped as to what to do and JVC wasn't able to shed any light on the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve |

From: Martin Pennie | posted: 22.11.2004 12:34 I have a loan of my sisters camcorder at the moment and have been having kittens as the E01 message has appeared and no matter what I have been doing it won't disappear. I have been searching the web for help but with no joy, so I have, out of desperation, just tried ejecting the tape and as soon as it started to "whir" I closed the door containing the tape. The camcorder is working fine now. Perhaps, if your still having problems, you could give this a try. Best of luck. |

From: kevin | posted: 28.02.2005 06:35 My camera is doing the exact same thing. The E4 unit in safeguard mode. I hadn't used my camera for about a month, and when I went to use it it made that "whir" sound and then displayed the error message. I got frustrated and didn't touch it again for a month...and then when I went to use it again...it magically fixed itself and I was happy. Until tonight, when I went to use it and it started doing the same thing, now I'm mad again. If anybody has figured out a fix to this pleeeease Email me. Thanks and good luck. |

From: omr | posted: 05.03.2005 19:23 GR-DVP3 - I recorded OK this morning then came home to view it, but I'm also stuck in Safeguard Mode. It tells me to remove and replace battery. That does not work. I tried the DC connector. That doesn't solve the problem either. I have tried hitting it on the sides (as some postings suggest), and that doesn't help. Nor can I remove the tape. Less than one hour of recording time on this machine. JVC seems to have a defect problem. HELP! |

From: SC | posted: 26.04.2005 20:54 same problem here. it has been like this for 3 months now and can't find a solution... can't get the tape out and can't operate the camcorder. still camera works fine. JVC's website says the only way to get it out of that status is by doing a soft reset at a local dealer. no other explanation for a 1600 $ camcorder that is supposed to be the best when i bought it.... this is rediculous. any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance. |

From: Chetna Bhardwa | posted: 24.05.2005 11:39 I have been getting this message for 5 months and have missed out on recording my baby's special moments. I just tried what Martin Pennie suggested and it now works fine. Pleas if you get this message take the tape out as soon as it starts to whir and put it back in. I did it 3 times but at least it works now. |

From: Summit Raj Tuladhar | posted: 11.10.2005 07:24 JVC GR-DVL100. Same Problem E04 "Unit in safeguard mode". Ejected the cassette and just when it was about to eject, pushed it in... and the error is gone. Thanks!! |

From: Carly | posted: 25.02.2006 00:24 I just had a similar problem after just switching my camcorder on after not using it for a few months. It was error E03 unit in safeguard eject tape. Tried that but didn't work. So followed the advice about ejecting the tape then just as it starts to eject close it. Works now! Stoopid JVC. |
