Just had same problem - GR-DVL100 - E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE - REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY - difference was cassette doesn't always load - gets 'stuck' about halfway then eventually ejects itself - I'll try the above suggestion and let you know how I get on. For info, I've had the recorder about six years with no previous problems!

I have the same problem with the safeguard mode 03 and it's frustrating and I can't do anything about it. I taped my nieces sweet 16 along with my daughters 21st birthday on may 5, 2006 please help me. I tryied everything that the other people said but nothing is happening.

I have the same problem E01 unit in safeguard moderemove and reattach the battery, I've tryed removing battery and it doesn't work I also tryed ejecting the tape but I can't eject it

I've just had this problem. Following someone's suggestion I took the cassettte out and found the tape had snagged a bit. I wound it back on before re-inserting, but it seemed damdged on playback. Finally the machine has told me to use a tape head cleaner. I'll go buy one tommorrow and see what happens... I hope the tape's ok because it has really good footage on it!

even I got the same problem..same E01 message. I am also not able to eject the tape. I tried reattaching the battery and using the DC mode but nothing helps. I am using GRDV2000U model.
Pls let me know if anyone has got any solutions.

My camcorder was showing the safeguard mode message last night and removing the battery etc did not help. I tried the suggestion about ejecting the tape when the camcorder was starting to whir and it worked - at least for now. Thanks heaps.
