From: dave-norris@lineone.net | posted: 09.02.2006 16:32 I'm looking for a new computer up to £3k, I did think of Mesh because of good write ups. But having read through this forum I do'nt think Mesh is on my shopping list any longer. My present computer has given me trouble and having spoken at length on the Dell customer helpline to someone who told me in a Asian accent he knew less about computers than I did. I do not want this routine again, can anyone reccommend a decent computer company with reasoable 'after-sales'? dave-norris@lineone.net |

From: Rob | posted: 10.02.2006 13:58 I bought a mesh computer a while ago, cost around £1,350. The first problem I had was within the first day, it was the windows home edition software and it would not load properly. The activation key I was given seemed to be invalid, it just would not except it. Eventually got through to someone at Mesh and was pawned off with, 'remove program and reload and if this doesn't work you will have to send it back to us'. Had to do this on 3 occasions. Started working for a while. After this I loaded software provided, by Mesh, with the computer, and had problems with drives disappearing. After several calls to mesh was told that the software THEY PROVIDED with the computer was incompatible with my system. It got so bad that I had to contact Mesh, to take everything off my Pc and reset it, so that it was back to it's original state when it left them. Then had problems again trying to load XP Home edition but was ok once I managed to get online to retrieve updates. My next problem was my Sony Cd rewriter had gone. This was after only a few weeks. More ringing to get this sorted, which I eventually did and got a replacement. Had to take off the software which was provided with the computer to prevent more problems. Still lose my drives now and again but seems to reset when I close computer and start again. I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to purchase a PC or laptop from Mesh unless you are able to do all the work and change everything yourself if anything goes wrong, which it would seem, is almost certain. |

From: hopefully happy | posted: 10.02.2006 16:19 ordered again from mesh as previous computer (bought2000) was trouble free. 1year into warranty dvd drive wasn't working. rang mesh who promptly collected pc and installed new drive and returned to my father as we were on holiday, couldn't fault service so no hesitation about buying from them again. found this forum after and was worried that i had done the wrong thing. took delivery of new pc 30 mins ago on day delivery promised. not taken out of box yet so not sure if working yet. will keep you posted. maybe there are more satisfied customers out there who don't read these forums so things might not be as bleak as they seem. I am keeping my fingers crossed. |

From: Tim | posted: 10.02.2006 22:01 Bought a machine from MESH just over a year ago. Hard disk failed after a few months. More recently the graphic card failed had to send it back to MESH. They have just returned the machine and when I tried to turn it on 'disk boot error'. MESH are utterly unreliable. Their phone support is a joke. Do not buy!!!! |

Yesterday i found this site and read about the poor service Mesh have been providing to their customers. I immediately sent an email to cancel the order. But have not heard yet whether they are canceling yet or not :S. I hope they are and it will be a painless process. Is it a hard job to get them to cancel , or am i too late?? |

From: carlboon | posted: 23.02.2006 03:14 Just received a new tower from Mesh 19th Feb 2006.I wanted AMD 3800 dual core+1024 RAM +200 GB HD.This they installed well. But then it all goes very wrong.I ordered XP home with CD writer and a DVD writer.I specified NO rogue software like antivirus etc.I received an engineered mess + rogue software like antivirus and cyberlink with parts of XP disabled like microphone access and other XP normal facilities.I am very very aware that Mesh will never put this right so I am left having reinstall everything which will cost me a lot of money. So OK,we understand Mesh get backhanders to install rogue software, but to disable XP in parts to suit the rogue software? Business is trust, and Mesh deliberately broke that trust which is shameful.DO NOT use their 0870 helpline numbers which is another very serious rip off as you will be left waiting for 10-20 minutes at £1 a minute till someone answers.I now regard Mesh as a serious rip off company, so be warned lads! |

From: carlboon | posted: 23.02.2006 06:28 In addition to my previous posting regarding the tower Mesh supplied. They have disabled the microphone ability from windows deliberately,so I have no VOIP or ability for voice on movie maker. I cannot imagine the psychology of this wrecking of VOIP! it frightens me.With all the defects they built into this tower I am left with having to buy and install XP home and probably have to buy a new CD r/w and a DVD r/w.Why Mesh do this to customers is beyond reason,as we trust suppliers.I shudder to think how many other delberate defects I will find. The helpline at rip off cost did tell me they had disabled microphone ability and told me to sort it out myself which is very difficult as I have to download Asus Zip files etc.So OK its a hopeless mess of a tower,so my advice is let the buyer beware! |

From: Mesh Support | posted: 23.02.2006 10:48 Hi carlboon, I think you may have made a few assumptions with regards to your system. Firstly define rogue software... We provide Etrust antivirus with our systems *uninstalled*, we leave the installation program for all customers to install if they wish to use it. If you buy Norton's from us, we do not pre-install it as we need you to accept the licence when it is installed. Cyberlink we pre-install, no choice over this, it's a part of our mastering process. I really do not know anyone who orders a system with DVD capability who doesn't want a DVD player installed. The microphone is disabled by default, since 5.1 surround systems have become common place the sound card manufacturers have provided this function by allowing the 5.1 to be reversable. i.e you can have the 5.1 output, or you can have microphone. We chose to please the majority of our customers who would not end up using the microphone, sorry bout that. I have absolutely no idea what you are referring to regarding rogue software and disabling parts of XP to meet the requirements of said software. As to your reference about backhanders???? we wish... Have you actually asked for help on this one before jumping to the conclusions that you have? The microphone, if disabled, can be re-enabled with a few clicks of the mouse. It seems to me that you have had a few difficulties using our product, most likely you have tried to call us and fallen foul of a long wait time on the phone, received the standard advice on how to re-enable the microphone and had difficulties hence the download and are now very unhappy. If you are still unhappy, and still have the problem, you are more than welcome to email me directly via davey@meshcomputers.com and if it's within my power, I will do what I can to restore your happiness and help you set your system up the way you want. From: Tony | posted: 24.02.2006 10:31 Hi there - just to give my opinion on things.... Ordered a new Mesh PC on Feb 6th. After reading reviews online AFTER ordering I began to feel a bit uneasy about the fact that I ordered before researching (Mesh were recommended by a friend). I just hope I am part of the 99% who are happy with their Mesh purchase! I asked if they could throw in a free printer with the pc, which they kindly obliged. I know it will be a cheapy/basic one, but it is still good that they were willing to do this! It was meant to be despatched yesterday for delivery today but has been delayed until Monday. Although Im a bit gutted as I am really looking forward to receiving it, i feel this is more than acceptable! I will post on here when I receive the computer to let you know my experience. I appreciate the time/effort it takes to post on here and as I am grateful for those who have expressed their views/experiences, i am happy to give mine. Tony |
