From: Matthew | posted: 06.09.2005 18:56 I feel really dumb here. I've been struggling for ages to connect my D500 and pc using Samsung's EasyStudio/PIM software. I have downloaded and installed all the latest versions, but when ever I try to connect via USB Bluetooth dongle or USB data cable, all I get is the following error message: "Cannot open port and this program is switched in offline mode. After, try to switch in online." Not the most helpful thing I've ever heard. I've tried contacting Samsung Support, but all they suggested was that their software is not compatible with XP SP2 and that I need to delete my USB drivers. Any ideas? matty_brown(at)yahoo.com |

From: b | posted: 13.09.2005 16:04 if using the samsung software off their website, make sure that you are using the correct COM port of the bluetooth dongle/usb cable etc in the settings menu. go to the hardware manager in the system properties to find out the COM port. this is what happened to me, the software couldnt find the phone, and i created a serial connection to the phone with a usb bluetooth dongle, which was set as COM10, then selected COM10 in the samsung easy studio program, and have managed to transfer music/pictures/videos etc to and from my phone with no hassle whatsoever. i hope this helps. |

From: Andrew | posted: 24.09.2005 10:04 i found the easy way for my pc to recognise my d500 was to use the easy studio pim and file manager, u have to go to File/Setup then make sure the port is on COM4 and click the tickbox at the bottom (automatically load data from phone and sim connection) now when you go back on the easystudio your phones records will be loaded automatically |

From: atkoj | posted: 07.10.2005 12:28 TO EVERYBODY WITH DONGLE PROBLEMS (ooh er mrs!): To get the D500 to work with bluetooth you need to (a) NOT use the built in bluetooth drivers in WinXP SP2 (b) install the bluetooth drivers from the CD that came with the dongle (c) set up serial port service in your bluetooth driver's program (again, not the Windows one) and note which serial port (e.g. COM4, COM9) it sets it too (d) set up the D500 for bluetooth access (e) download and install Samsung PC Studio PIM & File Manager 2.0 from the samsung website (f) In PC Studio go to File, then Setup, then under Port select e.g. COM4 that you noted earlier. (g) then go to Tools, then File Manager, then CLICK ON THE FOLDER for the type of file you want to transfer (e.g. video) (h) Bob's your uncle |

From: Rob Evans | posted: 09.10.2005 11:11 I found that after everything (checking COM posts, anything else) my file manager would only let me see the contents of my D500 once I had given PIM Manager my name, mobile number and email address. After that, all singing and dancing. |

From: Sharon | posted: 12.10.2005 17:11 D500 and bluetooth is great, no problems at all, I've downloaded MP3's to my laptop, then sent them via bluetooth to my D500 no trouble and without using any programs, just right click on mp3 and send via bluetooth to phone once the device has been found and paired up. |
