From: Ben Wallace | posted: 20.06.2005 05:17 I have also been 'burnt' by the Acer Ferrari 3000. Basically the computer was taking a long time to shut down. Then one day it shut down and died. The light didn't even go on when I plugged in the adaptor. Taking it in for repair I was told the motherboard had burnt out. It took six weeks to get a replacement from Acer!!! The day I got my Ferrari back I switched it on. It didn't recognise my wireless network. In fact it didn't even have wireless capability any longer (pressing the wireless button on the front of the laptop came up with 'No Device'). Now its back in for repair, but I'm NOT hopeful given the experience of others with this computer. ACER - you should take NOTE! I certainly hope that someone at that company is taking stock of these problems and these notices about them on the web. SHAME on you - you need to respond to this! It's pathetic that a company should be duping trusting customers into buying products that don't work. Put it RIGHT! In the meantime: DON'T BUY ACER!!! And Ferrari, you might want to ensure that something with your logo on it actually WORKS - it does not speak well for the quality of your CARS. |

From: Laursen | posted: 20.06.2005 12:47 I've bought my Acer Ferrari 3200 i march, and after a month i went all dead - motherboard gave in :-( I sent it service (picked up by UPS) on a Monday and got it back on Friday the same week, with a new Motherboard! - That's what I call swift service, I had a similar problem with my work laptop - an IBM Thinkpad - I sent it to service, and got it back 6 WEEKS later, now I really prefer Acer's support over IBM (is IBM short for I'll Be Malfunctioning?). |

From: David Wyllie | posted: 26.07.2005 13:07 Along with everyone else I have experienced the same errors with Bluetooth Stack Service and the graphics issues and the general poor performance, of what would at first glance appear to be a high spec machine. Obviously this product has been falsely advertised. I would also deter anyone from buying this product or any future Acer products. |

From: Sam | posted: 03.08.2005 16:14 I feel sorry for all the problems many of you are having. I don't have a Ferrari but I just bought an Acer Aspire 3500 a couple of days ago from a local CompUSA store in Manhattan. When I booted it up for the first time I noticed a stuck (blue) pixel in the middle of the screen. Fortunately I didn't buy directly from Acer as they have a terrible dead/stuck pixel policy. I went back to CompUSA and the tech person said this was the second return of the morning for a dead/stuck pixel for the Aspire. Luckily they exchanged it and I got one with a clean bill of health (at least for now). I have noticed that the thermal dispensation of the Aspire is horribly designed. Most laptops with active forced air cooling have vents directly below the fan for maximum air flow but for some strange reason, which I have a theory for, the vents are off set. Also, the case cooling via thermal pad and heat sink for the logic board chipset gets really hot - even more so than the processor. This causes the keyboard and touchpad to dissipate heat - enough so that my palms sweat. Other than the cooling problem I am pretty happy with the Aspire. It has a wonderful 15.4-inch widescreen display Xbright, its reasonably light at 6lbs and ended up costing only $500 after rebates. However, I worry about the possible long-term negative effects of poor cooling on the logic board, hard drive and processor. |

From: Felix - Spain | posted: 05.09.2005 12:21 Hi ALL ACeR customers! First please forgive my english ... and second please forgive my opinion about ACeR response to their clientes; They s...ck! Why? Because when i asked them about my laptop isues they just ignored me on the phone. In my second atempt i was able just to remember them that i'm a customer of ACeR since they where produceing TravelMate529TXV (my first laptop) - and now with TravelMate292LMi ... I love TravelMate laptops, and was my choice ... Now i'm in payn not just because is impossible to resove the bluetooth problem, the overheating, noise ... also because nobody from ACeR listen. Hope one day they'l do! All the best 4 ALL |

From: Bee | posted: 18.09.2005 13:15 Get a free hard disk drive! I had a Aspire1500 so possibly right to tarnish with the same brush. However, one day just wouldn't turn on so I started by checking the power connection, then reseated the memory, then tried DDR checker which came up with some sort of problem so I rung up (long wait) and sent it back. The hard drive was getting old so I decided to try it on for a new one and see if they check. I backed up and left a note on the keyboard saying intermittent hard drive bad sectors... When I finally got it back they had not only replaced the memory but the hard drive too! 80gb - twice the size of the original drive! |

From: HooKs | posted: 04.10.2005 07:14 Here is a counterpoint to all the negative FERRARI posts. I certainly would not doubt that each and every laptop company makes the odd lemon. You mass produce anything and the odd unit is bound to screw up. I am HAPPY to say that my FERRARI 3200 has run perfectly from day one - its now about 1.5 yrs old. I have experienced none of the problems discussed here or elesewhere on the net, and found my way here simply looking for tips on upgrades / overclocks etc. On the flipside, I have had a number of other brands that have all disappointed me BIGTIME DELL - Dont even go there - they refused to fix a 3 month old laptop with a dead LCD claiming I "must have dropped it or something as this sort of thing never happens" TOSHIBA - 5 times returned after various errors and component malfunctions and I finally sold it. HP - HD died no less than 3 times - and HP support blows. Since then I have bought nothing but ACERs and currently own 4. Not one problem with any of them. Needed to be said, as I really dont understand the purpose of these "this product sucks dont buy one" threads. |
