From: P. Borg | posted: 15.10.2005 20:43 Why are all my pictures bad lighted? It does not matter if take a picture in side with flash or out side in total sunlight. I have now changed the ISO setting from automatic to ISO 50 and now the lighting is improved a bit - but then I cannot see the need for an automatic setting. I also have problems when I connect my camera to my Aldi MD8683 PC it does not recognised the camera. Hmm. is it crappy or what? |

From: Roger | posted: 16.10.2005 11:50 Hi Buchi! The Slimline X5 is evidently made by Konica Minolta (identical with their Dimage E50). Other Traveler cameras can be made by other companies, as Traveler are like Vivitar - they just order cameras from other manufacturers, wth their own name on. |

From: Martin | posted: 17.10.2005 12:00 This camera works with a Mac and integrates seemlessly with iPhoto. If you also want to import and edit the video clips you need to get Flip4Mac Player Pro. Their next update will allow for the integration of all cameras which produce .asf files. I was told that their new software will be available around mid-November 2005. |

From: Nokiozbeauty | posted: 13.11.2005 12:36 Hey i just bought the slimline x5 and I'm having the same problem that Patrick has.. my camera is freezing when a picture is taken and the only way to fix it is by taking the battery out and putting it back in. Does anyone know how to fix this? |

From: Zero | posted: 29.11.2005 20:53 Firmware Firmware Firmware people... The sudden freeze of the camera is caused by the 'buggy' software installed on it.. It is updated in the new firmware.. i suggest you download it (and yes it's also avaiable in English) It also fixes the following: - FIXED: USB error that sometimes prevents it to be located by certain XP pc's , it gives the error it can not be recognised or is in malfunction. - ADDED: Option to turn of the (irritating) sound when it makes a photo. For people who do NOT have an SD-reader... it can also be put on the SD card via USB and not only via the Reader (as explained in the manual). Now I got a question of my own, I'd be very thankful if someone (who is experienced with this camera) could help: What is the best option to make, steady photo's in a dark area without using the flash ? Because... I want to make a photo of a room without much light in it for example.... the camera wants to use the Flash for it because it locates the room is dark. But I dont want that so I turn the Flash off.... but when I then make the picture he 'takes to long' and the picture becomes blurry. But when I do use the flash he takes the picture much faster and it's not blurry. I tryed the SPORTS mode, in which he also makes a fast shot without the flash... but that results in extremely dark pictures. So... does anyone have the solution to make FAST pictures (so it shoots in around 1/10-1/1000s of a second) without using the Flash, thanks And excuse me if my English sux... cos I'm not English myself. |

From: Rich | posted: 12.01.2006 14:53 Hello, I think that to take a picture in a darkish room without the flash you need to reduce the aperture to its lowest value (low f number), increase the shutter speed and either get a tripod or place the camera on a desk and use the delay timer because you need low shutter speeds to get enough light. Unfortunately, taking a picture by hand with a low shutter speed will give you a blurry picture because your hand will move very slightly. Hope this helps. |

From: Ken | posted: 26.02.2006 13:07 I'd like to update my firmware. The instructions on the Traveler website say you need to "take the SD card out of the camera" to put the new file in the master directly. Is there any reason why I can't load the new file using the USB port on the camera. Will this cause problems. Thanks for any advice. |

From: Neil | posted: 17.03.2006 06:52 To Zero Thanks for the info on freeze up, my camera seems to freeze up when the battery gets low even though the indicator still has 2 bars and is green. One battery is worse than the other. I will download the update.I just bought my slimline x5 at an ALDI grand opening for $85 US, but to take pictures in low light without a flash you need a longer exposure. The camera will be hard to hold steady so you need to put the camera on a tripod to keep from shaking. This camera only has a maximum ISO of 200. |
