Hello all,

I know very little about computers except they're great for playing games on, but my new Toshiba laptop doesn't stand a chance with the ones coming out these days. Is it possible to buy an external graphics card to help the performance?

Geeks.com has a USB-to-vga adapter for under $70; not sure how powerful the graphics are. Tigerdirect.com may also have a similar item for sale.

At one time, you could also buy PC Card-based graphics adapters, but I haven't seen any in a while.

The quick answer is no i'm afraid! Laptop graphics are not upgradeable, this is why people buy desktops - laptops are obsolete within 6 months gaming wise.

Long answer:
(i) rarely, some laptops can actually have the internal graphics board swapped out and replaced with a faster one. contact your vendor.
(ii) the USB / VGA adaptors won't be an improvement.
(iii) proper external graphics cards don't really exist.

id really like one. isnt there anywhere you could send your laptop for them to install one?
