From: Maggie | posted: 29.10.2005 17:44 Hi I have a small camper van and use my laptop when I am camping to watch DVD's and download photos etc. I now read that I can buy a USB2 pen like gadget (DVB-T Freeview) to plug in and turn my laptop into a TV getting the freeview digital channels. An aerial comes with it. This would be great as it would save the space that my current 14 inch TV takes..... space is a premium in my van. Has anyone any views on how good these are and has anyone tried one please? cheers Maggie |

From: john | posted: 30.10.2005 15:26 Hi Maggie, I'm just about to return my Freecom USB DVB-T stick. (cost approx £50 at ebuyer.co.uk). The problem with these 'portable' units is with the aerial. Unless you live (or are camped!) close to a DVB tramsmitter you won't get a picture. The supplied aerials are next to useless - if howerver you can connect them to a rooftop aerial, they seem to be fine. So be perpared to go to the additional cost of an aerial. Even an indoor set top areial did not work for me. (and I live in London!) |
