From: cantmakemymindup! | posted: 20.11.2005 22:33 Hi, have at last decided to upgrade from my old & tired Inspiron 8100 laptop. Have also decided to really go 'broke' & spend up to £2000. Have more or less narrowed the search down to the AJPD900 which includes 2.8GB DDR2 RAM & the Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 card, or the Evesham Voyager C720 Plus which you can configure with the same card, but comes with less memory. Dell's XPS M170 once configured to the same spec as the other two comes to well over the £2000 mark. Do any of you have any experience with AJP??... I've found plenty of views on Evesham, & I've had plenty of experience with Dell (hence my slight reluctance to go down that route) Would be most gratefull for any advice... I basically want the best laptop for around £2000... Battery & portability is not an issue. |

From: Ian | posted: 03.08.2006 12:14 I've been using this little puppy in "plus" config (upgraded screen and hard drive) for 6 months. Have got one other Evesham notebook, and after-sales care has been very good, there phone line advice is at National rates and is also good. The computer, IMHO, will date in looks quite badly (I really don't like the 'sprayed silver effect' at all, battery life is a bit of a joke too........however they're the downsides to an otherwise superb machine. The most striking thing is the fantastic display, crystal clear and nice depth of colour. The keyboard is fantastic, I use a wireless mouse so can't comment too much about the touch pad. If you use it running on the battery it performs at best adequately, however when you plug it into the mains...oh my god!!!!......throw away those old towers, you'll never need them again. My other notebook is quite powerful with a Radeon 9700 graphics card and Gig of RAM...this little puppy kicks its butt so far into touch I'm thinking of selling it to a mate. It's really that good. Game playing is in a different league! I also do alot of photography and my new baby just loves Photoshop..converting RAW files has never been quicker. It pretty much eats whatever is thrown at it. Watching DVD's is a pleasure, and I must say, even the speakers ars pretty dam good too. All in all I have no complaints, and at the price point Evesham given us great value...a very big thumbs up for a fantastic bit of kit. |
