From: arcuser | posted: 06.02.2007 17:36 Have now found the black and grey wireless wires, when you say disconnect them do you mean to simply unscrew the circuit board (with them on it) from its attachment? Are there any screws underneath the Windows XP and Philips stickers that must be removed? Would really need a walkthrough on getting to and removing the hard drive here (which screws to remove, how to lift the main circuit board etc.) .... right now I can't get to the hard drive at all. |

From: Kartel | posted: 07.02.2007 01:15 yeah there are 3 screws under the keyboard. at there are some white springs on top of keyboard that need pushing back with a flat head screw driver, there is sliver wire under that and it must be disconnected. on the under side of the laptop where pci solt is a screw whole that is covered by plastic pop it out from the in side. the laptop was working fine for a bout 6 weeks with the new hard drive and it cut out in mid use with the power light on and its been like that ever since. took it apart again tested the drive it works fine via usb so i'm baffed. |

From: Jenny | posted: 10.02.2007 14:21 Oooh my X50 did that!!!! I'd be using it then all of a sudden it would just turn off really randomly no warning at all!!! Even with it plugged into the charger it still did it even though the light was on to say that it was charging! Well anyways that ended 4 days ago and it did it again except now it will only turn on for 2-5seconds maximum. So took it to my local PC World who have tested it and informed me I need a new battery!!! My 14 month old laptop needs a new battery as it is not keeping the charge, I am not impressed!!! Best part is the new one will cost me £59.99 Surely one would expect a battery to last longer than this!!!! This computer has had so many problems since I got it this is the third problem since I got it!!! Anyways my only option is to purchase another battery as I still need the laptop as I use it for our business accounts. Anyone else had similar problems with the battery??? |

I have now removed ALL screws, disconnected the silver wire, and also disconnected the keyboard, I can just about lift the upper half of the laptop off but there are still several items connected up (not sure what these are for) - ribbon cables that are going from the top half and connecting to places for them on the circuit board... But apart from this, after all of this - I STILL can't get the circuit board lifted!! How do I get this darn thing lifted up to get at the Hard Drive underneath it - it seems to be completely stuck fast! It looks like the only way would be to prize it off (jam a flat screwdriver or knife underneath and try and lift it up), but I'm really afraid of breaking it! Anyone that has successfully done this know what to do next? |
