From: think different | posted: 27.12.2005 00:14 Good review guys, but what about a mac? I think you should mention macs & their benefits. Now, I'm not going to start a windows-bashing session, but merely want to state a few facts. Firstly, there are no known viruses for the current mac OS (X.4). Secondly, malware, spyware, etc are virtually unknown on this OS. Thirdly, it is widely accepted that the OS is much more stable that any version of windows. Lastly, let me address the old argument that there isn't enough software out there for macs. Admittedly, it doesn't have the range of games and some specialist software. But, if all you're going to do is write a few letters, surf the net, and play with your digital pics & music (which is what the majority of home users do), then mac will do everything you need & more. Remember, macs are used by the publishing industry & they invented itunes & the ipod.... So, if you want a stable, easy to use system, think different! |

From: Beano | posted: 28.12.2005 13:35 I have to decide between a mac and a new PC. Am returning my Dell laptop as it's a disaster - noisy and full of glitches disappointingly. Can anyone recommend any sites or shops online or in the London/SE area that are doing good deals on macs, either G5 or notebooks,as I am put off by the high prices. Does anyone have a link to a website which lists major non-mac supporting websites (eg Virgin music downloads) as well? Otherwise it's Acer, Toshiba, Fujitsu Siemens or...what? I use it as a home desktop replacement. No room here for a desktop and like portability. Thanks and happy New Year! |
