From: petercoupe | posted: 02.03.2006 11:06 The original Baird system was a mechanical one, which used electrical current to convert an image to a signal that could be transmitted along a wire - in the same way that sound works. It didn't have a CRT type tube display - that was the invention of Marconi a little while later. In the respect that LCD monitors use an electrical current to produce what is, in effect, a mechanical change, they are probably closer to the Baird concept than the later CRT system. Or am I talking rubbish as usual?! |
