According to the manual there is a master reset switch on the bottom. Cannot find!? Anyone know if and where this switch exists? Cheers..........Ian |

From: Hilary | posted: 11.01.2007 19:14 I bought one of the neat little X56s a few weeks ago. It's a nice machine but I'm having a couple of problems that I wondered if any of you guys could help with. Firstly, every time I boot it asks me to download an update to the Philips Media Manger software. I've clicked "yes" dozens of times and I've clicked "no" dozens of time. Yet either way, next reboot it asks me again about the update. Any ideas? Secondly it doesn't make a sound! There is no volume button in the system tray in the bottom right of the screen. There was once and I muted the volume as I was on the train. Then it vanished. If I open the control panel and click on "sounds and audio devices" and "volume" it says "no audio device installed". Then if I try to “add hardware” the wizard shows these as installed hardware with the speaker icon beside them: - Realtek High Definition Audio - Audio Codecs - Legacy Audio Drivers - Media Control Devices - Legacy Video Capture Devices - Video Codecs For each the Add Hardware Wizards says “This device is working properly.” So far I've emails DSG's support people twice. Even though I've received an acknowledgement for each of the emails they have not replied in over 2 weeks. Can anyone either tell me where I can get help? Or give me any advice directly. Thanks. |

From: Phil | posted: 13.01.2007 15:30 Hello gentlemen, Trevor said on 02.09.2006 19:38 "No one bought the all singing and dancing X54 yet from PC World et al..... Perfect, light, great screen, 2gbRAM 512mb Graphics, very fast 100gb hard drive and a even has built in bluetooth now!!! What doesn't it have, it comes with a highly doctored version of XP Media Centre, which doesn't matter if you can get hold of a set of XP MC disks, XPMCE comes on two CDs, as you can use your OEM number with no problems to do a clean install, ONCE YOU HAVE backed up all the drivers etc from the relevent drives." Could anybody confirm that this X54 REALLY has bluetooth AND wifi embedded ? I searched the entire web without being able to get this answer and bluetooth on board is very important to me. Thanks in advance ! Phil (fox_byigda@trashmail.net) |

From: Patrick | posted: 13.02.2007 20:11 I've had one for almost a year but recently the supplied Lite-On AC adapter has developed a fault and PC World advise that the adapter is covered by only a 3-month warranty? |

From: steve d | posted: 17.02.2007 01:15 my touchpad is also showing signs of wear. its a design flaw and covered under warranty. If pc world tell you its not, ask for the supervisor, write letters, make placards, storm parliament and phone the BBC. Its a travesty in the making, in a world turmoiled by flesh eating albanian ardvarks. i will get it covered. |
