From: MikeM | posted: 09.01.2007 20:40 In answer to my earlier post re Vista flash memory support (named ReadyBoost) some internet research found: http://kurtsh.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!DA410C7F7E038D!1493.entry P.S I can confirm that X56 has only ONE memory slot which contains the existing 1GB system memory. So to expand memory you have to dump the 1GB ! |

From: Jen | posted: 09.01.2007 20:41 I had a change of heart decided to give it one more chance, tech guys at PCW said do a complete system recovery back to original settings, this should fix it. so thats what I have done and yes its working again, even turned it off/on again and the sounds still there. Software I had loaded on still works. still wary of loading any new programmes at this stage though it doesnt seem to like Flash? it was this that seemed to cause the problem. so fingers crossed, because it such a neat little machine Jen |

From: Rico | posted: 10.01.2007 10:25 Richard - think in this case 'free' means PLUS handling and shipping! I've registered for a copy plus authorized payment and I no longer have the laptop!! |

From: Lee | posted: 10.01.2007 15:47 Lol, thanks Rico! Unfortunately I read your message too late and far more worryingly - I must have dreamt that I read there are two slots and managed to totally convince myself of it. Going through my history I couldn't find anywhere which said this. 1 gig of RAM going up on eBay... At least I was right about the RAM type! Lee |

From: jonathanmusto | posted: 11.01.2007 12:42 I've just ordered my 'Free' copy of Vista from the site. I wonder how long it will take to come though.... Does anyone know if DVD will be a full version (one that can format your drives and install from scratch), or will be an upgrade on top of the existing OS? |

From: marc | posted: 11.01.2007 16:05 Hi all, I've had one of these machines for a couple of months now, I too have had the hibernate probs but not (touchwood) to any great extent. I have always held the power button down to resolve it. However I do have a problem now in the fact that all of a sudden my wireless connection seems to have gone to pot. From time to time I will disable the wireless adaptor to save on battery power and then re-enable it when I get home. After doing this a few days ago the laptop does not seem to be able to see any wireless networks. Earlier today I did update the driver via the intel site but to no avail. I still have the same issue but I do now have an extra wirless connection icon in my toolbar ! All is well when connected via a network cable to my router. I should add that it cannot see ANY wireless network , not just the one at home. Any ideas how to sort this out ? Thanks, Marc |
