From: Ollie | posted: 30.11.2006 17:19 Same I have been looking for a spare battery on the internet and it seems there is no luck, who makes? I know it is a PHILIPS but it seems to be made by a different company because there are no PHILIPS laptop batterys. It looks like a cracking laptop. |

From: ThunderBolt | posted: 30.11.2006 17:53 Another wee query... When I leave this laptop to finish a job while I am away, if it finishes and goes into standby (I think) I can't seem to get the screen back on without rebooting. Seems a bit odd but then it is the 1st laptop I've ever used! Any pointers?!? |

From: KB | posted: 01.12.2006 11:31 From the Twinhead site it looks like the H12Y model and if you look on the label on the bottom of the machine it shows H12Y, so that seems fairly conclusive. I've contacted DSG/Partmaster re spare battery and got the expected answer - what a hopeless organisation they are! I've sent an enquiry to Twinhead in Taiwan and to several of their worldwide distributors stating the battery part number. If I get a useful response I'll post it here. |

From: KB | posted: 01.12.2006 11:33 Thunderbolt: if it goes into standby mode try just clicking on the spacebar (probably any key would be OK). Works for me! |

From: Jassa | posted: 01.12.2006 13:40 Hi I also have this same issue of blank screen and having to reboot to get it back to life! The problem is that it does not always happen! The same thing does also occur if you press the power button to go into standby/hibernation! Took mine back to PCWorld and he said it was a setting but I am NOT convinced that he has fixed this issue! Looking into this problem this week end will update if I find anything! |

From: jassa | posted: 02.12.2006 14:31 Hi tried to look at this hibernate/stand by issue. Went to PC World for 2 1/2 hours! They are very very non-helpful! First they said there is no issue so they took it and rebuilt for 30 mins Then said there is a issue and said they still will not take it back till I prove it Then they said that the PC was not designed to hibernate! They say the bios does not hibernate on this model! So after 30 mins of me disproving this they changed their minds and said it does hibernate. Then finally they still try to say nothing is wrong and said in power settings putting the turn off screen and hard drive to never is the fix as the pc does not know how to recover from this! That is plain no brainer! So I have just tested in that mode and it happened again! So take my advise and dont by this PC at all well not from PC World at least! Thanks JAS |

From: Sue | posted: 02.12.2006 19:53 Joe, many thanks for your advice re Bios and the battery - I just do not seem to be able to get into the Bios screen. Do I just press the Del key - top right hand corner of key board - when I start up the PC? Also, I am peeved about PC World in Kingston - they absolutely refused to match Curie's price - I had all the paper work! I have now shredded that - pity, could have passed it onto someone else . Which PC World did you folk go to - the folk who got the discount? All that aside, I think it is a great little PC (-: |

From: anon | posted: 03.12.2006 00:19 I agree the staff at PC world has failed on their customer services - but I am sure that this is not the same across branch - found the staff in Tottenham court road branch appalling, they are only interested in sales any other queries will delegate from one person to another and to another. Annoying! perhaps what i was asking is out of the ordinary - i failed to get a price match even though i have a confirmation printout of £609. If anyone wants to get them to price match, make sure you take any promotion code as they would want to verify the details online and they will try to discourage you from buying. At the end they say that the price is an internet price and so, how do you deal with that. Either you have get lucky with a senior staff or be aggressive and fight for your product. In the end, i took the easy option which is to buy it from the internet at Dixon's. Hope this works out well. |
