From: Greg Walton | posted: 12.07.2001 09:44 Your review of the CTX 710F may reflect how good a specially-engineered review model of this monitor works, but for the rest of us the reality is different. I had three of these monitors (one after another). The first didn't work at all. The second was horribly blurred in the centre of the screen at any resolution/frame rate higher than I can get on my old LG 57i 15" monitor. I discussed this with CTX and they were very helpful, the upshot of which was that I returned my monitor and received another which had been especially tested just for me. It was exactly the same. The blurring is just about bearable for short to medium periods at 1280 x 1024 but only if you wind the frame rate down to 75 Hz, which is bordering on flickery for a screen this size. I liked CTX UK's customer service guys but I feel sorry for them partly because they're having to support a substandard product and partly because their eyesight must be shot if they think this display is acceptable. Sadly, the display is beautiful at 1024 x 768. But then it is on my LG 15", so what incentive is there to spend nearly £200 on something bigger and heavier? I would advise you to spend a bit extra on a better make that can actually give a clear display at the higher resolutions. |

From: Alex | posted: 13.07.2001 16:04 That's odd, because our review model really was nice. And I don't think it was a golden sample. Few companies bother doing that sort of thing any more; if you can make one good, why not make 'em all good? Did you try your monitor in other locations? Electromagnetic fields - even the Earth's magnetic field - can play havoc with CRT monitors. Alternatively, maybe you just have exceptionally good eyesight. Alex |

From: paul houghton | posted: 28.08.2001 00:56 I,ve a ctx monitor now for over a year and have had no problms what soever. Well I did have a few but this was down to windows installing not the best drivers for it. The cost was more than reasonable. Menu control easy to use and colors really nice at 16bit and 32bit. My tv image from my tv card is very impressive on this monitor. |
