From: Ray Lancaster | posted: 16.07.2001 14:51 Has anyone tried using GPS with AutoRoute 2001? If so, how lost did you get? I used known coordinates to test the location sensor and found it to be miles out, eg. Ostend Airport, according to the coordinates, is now off the FRENCH coast, and the Royal Observatory which any sane person knows is at 0 degrees has now moved westwards! From: Ray Lancaster | posted: 21.07.2001 16:58 Alex, I didn't use a GPS device. I have in my hobby of aviation, lots of info regarding coordinates and can check out programs such as AutoRoute to see how accurate they are. How many civil aircraft get lost?, very very few and that is only because the wrong coordinates were inputted into the flight computers! The coordinates used by Microsoft are inappropriate to the UK and Europe and I doubt they would work in the USA either! Thanks for your reply to my original posting. Ray |
