From: Janak | posted: 14.01.2007 17:51 hi, i just got an x55 from pc world yesterday. seems the 100gb hard drive isnt really 100g. the 'local' disk had a capacity of 69.8gb in total. so i went back today, and the guy did something to make a second volume available under my computer called 'new volume (E:)' which has capacity of 18.8gb. total is not even 90gb..and this includes the space taken up by windows setup files. did anyone else experience the same issue? kind of ticked off that i dont get a regular 100gb hard drive...please let me know asap. i may go back to them tomorrow. thanks |

From: Dave Adamson | posted: 15.01.2007 14:30 Hi Just checked my X55, and it has one "working" partition of 88GB which forms my C drive and a partition called Recovery of 4.70GB. I know this still doesn't add up to 100GB, but when you take into account formating, etc, it's as close as I'd expect to get. |

From: John Woodcock | posted: 09.02.2007 23:26 Hi, Just bought one of these myself despite promising I would never buy anything from PC World again. But theyre such a nice laptop, high spec and cheap too. Yes you're short on disk space. You always lose some due to formatting, also on this machine there's 18.5Gb of unpartitioned space for some reason. If I ever reinstall the box I'll do a better job than the guy who installed this one. You also lose space because there is a recovery partition. You'll have noticed that you don't get an installation cd? Thats because it's held on hard disk. You can re-install from scratch from this partition. Good idea to make yourself a recovery cd/dvd set as well though, just in case you get a disk crash in the future. Hope that explains it. Cheers, John |

From: Terry | posted: 19.02.2007 20:13 I have just bought the x55.... it said on the ad that it had a dual layer dvd burner... but the drive is not labelled in any way... can anyone confirm if it is definitely dual layer? |
