From: Ian | posted: 13.09.2001 20:30 i have a ADA880W Dolby® Digital Speaker System which i want to attach to a Sound Blaster 5.1 Live! Card in my PC. However, to connect the s/pDIF cable to this digital sound card (and achieve digital performance from my machine) i need some kind of S/PDIF to ANALOG jack - which i'm having trouble getting hold of. do you know of any products (name of the cable i need) or somewhere (in the uk, ideally) that sells such devices. Thanks Ian, Cambridgeshire UK |

From: Alex | posted: 26.09.2001 14:53 I'm not sure that you can do that. I think you need to use the line out (analogue) from the sound card. The digital output is mainly for midi and other electronic music gadgetry, not speakers - unless the speaker system has a proper digital input too. Otherwise any such cable would just be a digital to analogue convertor, which is all the line out does anyway. A look on the Creative Web site (www.soundblaster.com) may help. Alex |
