From: A kid | posted: 26.11.2001 22:00 My computer sistem crashed and i had to reinstall Windows. I copied the important data to my friend's HD and formated my own HD. I tried to install Windows but just as the preparing for the installation finished (you know that sliding from 0 to 100%), the process suddenly stopped. I tried to do the same thing several times, but it could not go further. The CD is defenitely all right, i checked that. But when I used the Scandisk(from DOS, of course), it discovered some bad clusters. Maybe that's the problem? I also copied the WIN98 folder to my HD and ran setup from there, but, again the same. |

From: Alex | posted: 27.11.2001 17:21 It does sound like the bad clusters could be the problem - perhaps there are some more that haven't yet been discovered and marked. You could run a thorough disk analysis tool, but I'd be tempted to buy a new hard drive instead. For the price it's not worth risking your data and time. |
