I have a stupid question....also a Epson Stylus 440 Color that I haven't used in 6 months...i just bought a black cartridge for it and there is no color cartridge in it,either empty or full...my properties are set to Black and yet the color light ia steady on..is it because it wants a color cartridge also????? Does this mean i HAVE to have a color cartridge in it also??? Not fair !!! Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid so. You won't get it to do a thing unless it has both cartridges installed.
