From: Michael | posted: 21.02.2000 03:42 The bet computer OS systems for a library would be Win2000. It is made for networking, and it has many capablities in database management, word processing, multi-tasking, time management, and much more. The best company (for a school) to get this from is Gateway (the cow company). They sell pre-packaged computers in large quantities at bulk rate prices. Win2000 is great, but if you were to purchase 5 to 20 computers, I suggest you stick with Win98, its simple, easy, and effective. The software you should use I am not too sure what it is called. But there is software out there that allows users with (library cards) to access the (controlled) internet, search for any late fees, and maybe even get information about the history of thier school. Those without cards can still search the library for books also, but of course, they can't check anything out. The best reference I can give you on a clean, efficient, cheap, and functional system would be the system located at the Main Library, Downtown Long Beach, CA. Get their number and call them up, ask one of the information clerks where they got thier system from. It is excellent I kid you not. Well, I hoped I helped you. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day.
