HELP! I bought a sony Vaio PCG Z600-TEK - to cut a long story short - the motherboard has died, my laptops out of warranty and Sony are kindly offering to shaft me for a new motherboard..
Does anyone know anything about where I can get a used motherboard??!! Any advise would be well appreciated.. I can be reached on theomichaels@hotmail.com - and if the owners of this website are reading - how do I contact you to find out if you have any??

We have the same problem with my Sony VAIO Notebook. (GRV550 new cost $2000)
This notebook is only 13 months and has been giving us problems for about two months now.
I did not realize that the warranty was coming close to being over (only 12 month). I called Sony and explained the situation they said that there was nothing they could at the 13 month mark. They recommend to ship to a "Sony Authorized Repair Center" and for us to pay for the repair & shipping. estimate at $900) That will be a cold day on the sun before that happens, those #&%&*!!$$%#!!!!
I'm looking for a relatively cost effective way to fix it.

Same story - just out of warranty. nearly passed out at the cost of replacement so I wrote letter to their Managing Director complaining long and loud about Sony's 'reputation' versus the reality. Do they stand behind their products or not?

They reduced the cost of the replacement by 70%.
Only 70%? Still not happy.

Gosh... same story! I have a VAIO GRX520 laptop and after kinda year and half the motherboard started to fail (random fail). Those guys at Sony just told me to replace the mainboard (at my own cost, course)... for ONLY $900. No way!
If someone knows where can I find the motherboard I need for a low price please advice me! P/N A8067175A

I have been in repair/maintenance for 20 years and have repaired quite a few sony laptop motherboards in that time, so if you can let me know what happened upto the event i might be able to help

I bought a bad computer from ebay and found After getting a diagnostic check that the motherboard was faulty. Unfortunately like all Sony and namebrand products they are proprietary. Calling Sony and after much %#*~ hassle they want CAN$ 580.00 to fix with the necessary courier charges. The motherboard only costs around $300.00. I cannot see the logic in anybody ever buying a %#@!*_~Sony product. The same charges (courier) exists even if it is under warranty.I pray the day we can just go and mix-match our components and -Presto! we have got a new computer. I know the day is near when we are no more badgered by these !@#$%^&*( companies anymore.

I dont know if its to late but I found a place that does board level repair very reasonable called laptoprepair.com try there.
