From: Peter M | posted: 17.04.2006 13:30 Hi I've bought the traveler DC 8300 and it's excellent. However the charger was damaged (Dumb Dog) and I need to get a replacement. Does anyone know of where I can buy one online? Cheers Peter M. |

From: Peggy | posted: 21.04.2006 03:26 I love my traveler camera, I would pay 4 times the price for a 6 megapixel camera with all the features this camera has. And this one came with a car charger pack too. I must agree, the software is useless. I bought a memory card reader for our computer, and this way we can use only one tool and one program for all the different cameras we have in our family. The free camera software is usually not the best anyway, there is a lot of easy to use and not too pricy picture software available. Even with the extra expenses the camera is still a great deal. My problem is, the battery life time is terrible. I think it's time to replace my 2 rechargeble batteries. What type of battery does this one compare to, or where do I get the original replacements? |

From: Anehcefe Gray | posted: 22.04.2006 04:15 Hi I am in Chicago, Illinois USA and I am in grad school trying to complete a report on the DV-3010. Matt from what I have been reading you are a tremendous help and very knowledgeable. Can you tell me more about the company and this product or even direct me to their website. I already know about www.traveler-service.com; not very informative. Thanks |

From: Maelspike | posted: 22.04.2006 13:04 Responding to Matt on page one - traveler cameras may use sony and ricoh components, yes, but there's a catch - the ccd chips, for instance, are likely to be the ones that didn't make it through Sony and Ricoh's quality control - in other words, their garbage. |

From: martin | posted: 29.04.2006 18:57 I bought a Slimline X5 on the recommendation of a friend who had had the previous year's model and who had loved it. When I first took it on a trip to the west and the great outdoors, I noted that it was virtually impossible to see the monitor in the sunlight. That has continued to be a problem with not having a viewfinder. The same thing happens when taking an inside photo in a dim room---I cannot compose because I can only make out shadowy shapes. I would never get another camera that has no viewfinder again. When shooting with a flash, I find the "reach" is only about 3 feet---I can't even get people across the table featured in the shot if the light in the room is not bright. The batteries from the beginning never lasted anywhere near the purported time, and they ran out quickly on a recent trip to Italy leaving me without any photographic capability. On more than one occasion, the camera has slipped into the video mode unwittingly before I realized it---even when I purposely checked it when taking it out of its case. That would always drain the battery quickly. All in all, although it has its place under ideal conditions and is capable of taking good pictures, it has not proven to be a reliable companion. |

From: Anke | posted: 30.04.2006 14:26 I just received an ad from Aldi with the Traveler DC-8300 for 229.99 $. Can anybody tell me if this is a good deal. It sounds great considering the 8.1 mp. How is the zoom feature? My old dig. camera has a zoom, but you need it to just get a normal picture, nothing closeup. I hope this one is better. Does anybody have any info. Thanks Anke |

From: slickchick | posted: 30.04.2006 19:30 I was also looking at that aldi ad. I can't find anything on the camera, it is as if it doesn't exist. If any one has info I would love to hear it! |

From: Anke | posted: 01.05.2006 14:26 I found info on the camera on the UK website. If you go to I think it's Traveler.com, then click on english, UK. They have all the specs listed, so it exists in Europe. Makes sense, since Aldi is German. It sounds like an okay camera, but more info would be great Anke |

From: sporty | posted: 04.05.2006 19:27 Bought a Traveler DC-5080 from Aldis as my first digital camera. Can't believe how easy it is to use and download photos. Brilliant price £50 for 5 mp. Someone advised downloading Picasa programme from internet to manage photo files now use it all the time rather than the photo explorer/express suppied on the CD with the camera. Picasa is simple (must be if i can use it!) to use and searches all your files to retrieve photos that you've forgotten about. |
