From: beans | posted: 07.05.2006 19:02 I just bought the new Traveler 8300 from Aldi and I think I love it. I had an hp digital camera, but I was frustrated that it was so automatic that I couldn't adjust things to my liking. Anyway, now there are so many settings and adjustments, including several manual functions that it will take me a year to figure out how to use them all. Does anyone know where to get info on When and Why you use certain settings? It's great that the manual tells you how to set them, but what I really need is situational information. I hated the software that came with it. I don't know if I am just incompetent or what, but it was too hard to use. I downloaded the free Picassa2 that Kim Komando recommends and have had a much better time with that. I took my new camera to the Chatanooga Aquarium yesterday and was able to take non-stop pictures, leaving the camera on almost the whole day. It came with two batteries and a car charger so I am set. My old camera was a battery hog! A lot of my aquarium pictures were blurry... it's so hard to take pictures through glass with no flash, in poor lighting with moving fish! Why couldn't that shark just pose for a minute? Any suggestions? I'm new here so I look forward to speaking with you all! T |

From: Don | posted: 15.05.2006 21:46 I just purchased the DC8300, so far I think it is terrific. It has plenty of adjustable features plus if you want to go Automatic just set it on A and it does everything for you. The batteries seem to have long life and they did include a spare. I had no problems transfering pics from camera to computer, I have a reader on my printer and only had to insert the memory chip (512) that came with the camera, everything was automatic from there. I noticed some people are not happy with the LCD screen defaulting to the ON position. The LCD screen can be turned off if you want to by continueing to push the image selection button on the back of the camera. |
