From: Charence Wong | posted: 11.06.2003 18:11 Hello! I own a Tiny laptop and I am not very pleased! I was persuaded towards Tiny when I saw the styling of their computers. I was wrong to do so!!! I have found that the computer parts that Tiny used were extremely bad quality and just after my 1 year warranty had run out, the cooling fan died! Before it ceased working, the noise levels of the fan had already risen beyond an unacceptable level. To make matters worse, TINY HAS THE WORLDS WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Ringing customer service is useless. The people at Tiny would transfer you from line to line for hours on end without even asking for your problem...it is totally unacceptable. After an explicitly large phone bill and £16 for a spare part which came about 1.5months later, I found that they sent me the WRONG part which was also BENT! It's as if the people at Tiny Customer Service are the janitorial staff who have come accross the Tiny helpline and are playing around with it.... I WOULD ADVISE NOBODY TO BUY A TINY AND I WOULD ADVICE YOU NEVER TO CONSIDER IT!!! Charence Wong |

From: Benny | posted: 29.02.2004 16:29 Hi I too have a tiny laptop. within 6 months the cd combo drive wouldn't read anything, tiny collected the beast and returned it with a new cd drive two weeks later. All was fine for a while untill i noticed the laptop was roasting my legs! I thought it must have been desgined to run that hot, and continued to use it, but on a hard surface. About 4 months had passed, and it decided to lock up and make a high pitched tone constantly. I managed to get hold of tiny just before they vanished, and two weeks later it returned with a new motherboard. upon closer inspection i noticed my ram had halved from 512mb to 256mb and the keyboard had not been connected! Really enoyed now, i sent it back again. 2 weeks passed and the laptop was back. still with half the memory but hey, its back and working. 4 months later the cd rom went again. so i got an external one. As for the overheating i have found 3 second hand cooling fans. i mounted them in a row on a thin strip of plastic and place the strip of fans on the space above the keyboard to the right of the power bottons. It has lowered the temp so much that it actually runs faster!! Its a bit bodge job but its all i can do after i spent so much for the heap of junk! Any sugestions? Do tell! |

From: Luke | posted: 06.04.2004 15:00 I bought my Tiny power writer laptop in November 2001for 1500 pounds. It was top of the range spec with an unbeatable price. worked fine for a year. Just after the 1 year warrantee ended, amazingly, problems started with overheating, slowing down, inability to read DVDs properly and finally, switching off by itself. I rang the company (after they went bust) and they said it will cost around 70 pounds just for pick up and delivery (forget about it). I rerally struggled with this laptop and it drove me crazy on many occasions. I tried to repair it in a private shop where they told me it's not worth the hassle and money. THEY SAID THIS ALL THE SAME TINY LAPTOPS AS MINE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM (MAINLY OVERHEATING). so this is the lesson guys : DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE SHEEP PRICE, THER'S ALWAYS A CATCH. TINY SOLD CHEAP STUFF COZ THEY MANAGED TO PUT THE CHEAPEST COMPONENTS IN THEIR MACHINES. gO FOR A REPUTABLE COMPANY LIKE SONY, TOSHIBA, COMPAQ... NOW I BOUGHT A NEW SONY LAPTOP AND I'M HAPPY WITH IT SO FAR. PAY EXTRA FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND. IT'S WELL WORTH IT. |

From: Robert Moss | posted: 30.04.2004 12:53 Tiny.com provide appaling service. I would not recommend them to anyone. In fact, I would advise against buying. Their prices are cheap because they provide cheap service. I was advised placing an order with them by friends who have had bad experiences, but I was suckered by the good deal. Remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. I placed an order on April 4th through the website. My order was not processed. A later email query about my order was not answered. After 10 days I contacted Tiny only to be told that my credit card details had not been processed due to being incomplete. No one phoned me to re-request them. I replaced the order. I was subsequently charged £1006 on April 19 and told my order would be processed as a priority. I was told it would be with me in five days. A later email query about my order was not answered. After five days I phoned, only to be told parts were out of stock. I was told it would be a further 5 days at least before the machine would arrive I asked to cancel my order and was told a manager would phone me as only they had the power to do this. No one phoned. On Thursday 22nd April I phoned and spoke to a Service Clerk. I cancelled my order and was told that my refund would taken between three and ten days. I asked to complain and was told that I would not be assisted in making a complaint. Eventually, I was give details enabling me to do so. I mailed a complaint through the website, then wrote to both Customer Services and Brian Boys the General Manager. I was later called by a Clerk to ask if I would change my mind about a refund. I refused. No effort was made to address my complaints. On Thursday 29 April I phoned to check on the status of my refund. I was told that it could take up to 28 days. The Clerk denied I would have ever been quoted 3-10 days. He agreed that the service I had received was not good. My wife phoned the next day to question why their website states refunds, once authorised, take one day to process (but up to 7 to show with the bank). We were then told that authorisation itself can take up to 28 days. I would suggest their website terms regarding refunds are ambiguous, if not deliberately misleading. I have kept a screendump and HTML page copy of these terms in case they subsequently decide to change them. It seems to me Tiny.com can earn a lot of interest from money held for 28 days. I have written again, today, to Brian Boys and the Customer Service Department to complain about the service and request an IMMEDIATE REFUND. The company is still resisting, making me wonder if they are in financial difficulties. Having worked in the computer industry for 10 years I know that refunds can be processed at the same speed as orders. All it takes is someone to key in card details and/or make a phone call. It beggars belief that they can charge me within 24 hours but takes 28 days to refund my money. I have never received any goods from Tiny, but still they keep my money. I am effectively paying them for nothing. I am also being prevented from taking my business elsewhere. I do not consider that they have provided me with good service. I have made a complaint about your service to BBC1's Watchdog. I have also written to The Sun and the Trading Standards Complaints Organisation. I have made a formal complaint to Barclaycard and will be pursuing the matter with them until I receive a satisfactory resolution to the matter - a full refund. Tiny.com are cowboys and I will not recommend them to my worst enemy |

From: Andy Simpson | posted: 12.05.2004 16:36 Definitely. I purchased a system from TINY.Com it arrived 6 days late, Windows XP doesnt work properly and the"Supanet" - supacon optimised modem can't be de-optimised on the Isle of Man. The customer service department is a joke, most of the staff don't understand english. Thet told me they would send an external modem, then 7 days later tell me they are out of stock. You can't speak to anyone in charge and if you email, fax or write they don't even have the decency to reply. I have told them I want it sorted by noon Friday or I will send it back and insruct our company lawyers to file a case to claim all my costs including phone calls, wasted time and carriage costs. ANYONE READING THIS DON'T BUY TINY for the love of god you owe it to your SANITY |

From: Rob McWilliams | posted: 17.05.2004 01:10 Thanks Very much people, i actually thought about buying from tiny, but no more! Beware Dell also. I have been trying for a week to get a response from them. They sent one email confirmimg I had been accepted for finance, then sent two different emails later on refusing me. Apparently I have finance documents that need signing and returning on the way to me, but I have been refused! The email addresses of the senders of these emails and Dell customer services have yet to respond a week on. I guess one of the emailers may have trouble translating, as it came from India! Beware Dell, maybe they like you if you have cash in hand, daft thing is I even offered to pay by card if finance wasnt acceptable, but no reply. |

From: Dave | posted: 04.07.2004 16:16 I am currently shopping for a new laptop and was tempted by Tiny's amazing specifications. However, previously bad experiences with their technical support made me decide to make some enquiries with their Sales department before buying. I phoned on 3 separate occasions and was told that Sales Advisors were currently too busy but they would phone me back within an hour. Needless to say, I never received a call back and consequently they never received any of my money. My only remaining question is exactly why is their Sales department so busy?!! |

From: greg de gouveia | posted: 10.07.2004 20:49 After reading all the complaints, i don't feel too bad. I too am at the mercy of tiny's pathetic customer service.I ordered my notebook on 12 June. Two days later i got a confirmation call, and the sales advisor tried to hard sell me all sorts of accessories and insurance etc.Quite annoying. By the end of June, no money had been taken from my account and no notebook had arrived.I've emailed 6 times with no response.I've called 4 times and was also told every time that a sales advisor would call me back.Still waiting. I just don't get it.It's like they don't want my money. |
