From: Dave | posted: 27.08.2004 15:41 Pitty I didnt read about Tiny on here first. Ordered a laptop about a month ago - a friend has had no complaint about them - yet. Price was incredible. My laptop was sent to couriers late - and without evening delivery as requested. But laptop has "gone missing". Does Tiny care? of course not. Their service is crap - dont even consider them! |

From: Rory | posted: 08.09.2004 13:01 I am so relieved to have read these posts before committing my money. I am a financially challenged student looking for a glorified typewriter for essays and email. Naturally I was tempted by tiny.com's glossy adverts in Computer Shopper, and almost, Almost went for a Mediabook U280. At £568 it is a lot of laptop for little money. I was impressed. However, I was not impressed by the inept salesman at the Computer Shop, the company which sells Time and Tiny. He told me nothing I didn't already know, and was unable to say much beyond lame platitudes. Consequently, I have decided to supress my Scrooge instincts and invest in a more reputable firm. Apple anyone? Thanks |

From: Craig | posted: 15.09.2004 16:49 Damn, I just ordered a Tiny laptop. The "Tiny PowerLite MS 3.4 PCTV" to be exact costing me around £1200. The price seemed very good for the specs like many others have noticed, but now im wondering how long my notebook is going to last after me putting all the money out... me a student as well... The salesman also strongly recommended we went on the 'gold' support service plan which he said comes with a recovery CD (WinXP Home) which would normally cost £200 according to him. My dad said he could get it for around £80 and the salesman said it wasn't possible... I looked up dabs, simply etc and seen both of them selling it for around that. :S |

From: dave hough | posted: 23.09.2004 12:38 I have the same problem. Nothing happens and when you make an enquiry as to why you get the "credit card has been declined" routine. This delays matters and then they do take your money but don't produce the goods. If you ring to cancel they put you through to an extension that is never answered. I'm appalled at this company's bare faced misleading statements. I did buy from Tiny about 6 years ago, the machine was delivered on time and was very good. However I think there are severe problems now that they have been taken over by Time. An Amateur outfit, I can't recommend them to anybody (except my ex-wife). |

From: Alan | posted: 03.10.2004 00:15 I have just looked at a laptop for a client. She has been on their phoneline for hours, sent it back (they said nothing wrong with it!) Rubbish she sent this back 2 months ago under warranty ended up giving up. I have found after after 1 minute of searching the internet I had sucessfuly sorted the problem. Sh*** tiny/TIME laptop (fan problem, very well known issue! by all but not tiny.fancy that at a pound a minute.....) and even poorer customer support. at a pound a minute it makes sense to sell duff merchandise just make even more on the "support calls" I am truly shocked at the level of service my customer has received and the old adage sticks Tuff It's Now Yours. I sugest everybody with a duff tiny/time laptop hurls it through their window on passing. You may get some satisfaction. |

From: Chris D | posted: 06.10.2004 23:23 This is a copy of an email I have sent to Tiny, they owe me £888.... Wednesday, 06 October 2004 F.A.O. David Woodford (Southampton Branch) C.C. General Manager (Granville House) C.C. Trading standards Southampton Ref: order of 5-3500 PCI express Account ref;- Tetra number: Dear David With reference to my phone call to you on the above date, and my personal call to your Southampton store. I am totally appalled at the way I have been treated and ignored. The whole process of my order has been a catalogue of errors. 1. You lost my original order form that was made on Sat 4th Sept 2004 2. The second order form had no reference number on, it took three weeks before that was entered on the printed form in ink 3. You have not responded to my letter that I sent to you and your head office 4. You told me after three weeks that it was still in build, I can build one in 90 minutes. 5. I called in the shop on Sat 2 Oct 2004 and Charlie looked on a database and told me it had been dispatched and I should get a text message prior to delivery 6. I spoke to you on the phone today (6th Oct 2004) you called me back and said that it was being dispatched today and I will get a text message to confirm delivery 7. I called back at 15.40hrs to say I hadn't heard from them, you then called me back to say that a third part courier was used and they delivered to a neighbour on Monday 4th Oct 8. I told you that I have a neighbour from hell living next to me and I don't associate with the neighbours where I live as it is a depressed area 9. The very fact that the computer has been delivered to another address will suggest to them that I have material wealth, this has jeopardised the security of my environment and I am seriously concerned that there is now a strong possibility that I could be broken in to. 10. You said at the shop that my mobile number had been entered incorrectly, that is not my concern as I have the invoice with my correct mobile number on, also I could have been contacted on my land line or email 11. As I told you in the shop, I want a total refund without delay; you hinted that this would not happen until the computer was recovered, I do not accept that. 12. I think I have suffered enough as a result of your mismanagement and I am stating in this letter that I want a total refund and the cancellation of my standing order for the bronze service. 13. I called in to your shop today as your phone was constantly engaged, on entering your shop you were talking to a customer about an led problem and not dealing with a serious case like mine. 14. I have not ruled out legal action as a result of the consequences. 15. I will be sending a copy of this to the trading standards and to your head office 16. I would appreciate a response from you this time together with the name of the general manager at your head office Yours Sincerely Chris Dunne |

From: John | posted: 14.10.2004 14:14 Oh God I have just read all youl coments..Yes I have just bought a Tiny... It came without the recovery CD (but I got one from Tiny for FREE in just 2 days) nor have I the extra insurance....I was first upset when I found that I had to spend money on the phone just so as the modem could be unlock. I already pay one ISP I dont need two.... If you need the recovery CD ring the £0.50p per minuet No in your hand book, tell them that you Tiny is wonderfull but that the kid's have stuff it...tell the YOUNG LADY she's a dream and she'll send you one for free...Thats haow I got mine. But Why did I need it??? Well I just loaded a copy of Win XP Pro on it and completly screwed it up...It took 2 mins to do every thing that would normally take only afew seconds. The modem could not be found by Windows! yet Windows reported it as being in working order. The sound card refused to work and I got mad! I plugged in the recovery CD and in just 20 mins the whole thing worked 100% .... Now its back on XP Home and working well I was feeling proud of my efforts but mad about MS XP Pro, that was until I read your posts on this FORUM..oh dear oh dear John |
