From: Atty | posted: 07.12.2004 16:05 I used to work in tiny Tec but had some sense to get the hell out of there. The company is run by cowboys believe me they have changed there name from time to tiny because they had a really bad name and now they are carrying on. With your problem the only thing you can do for the first 12 months or for how ever long the warranty is to buy a reload cd from tiny or download the file that is stored on there (which is only a 1 MB buy the way to unlock the hidden partion which is on your hard drive and tiny charge £30). After the warranty is to format the drive and install windows xp from the scratch. If anybody out there has a tiny machine the best thing is get a refund or chuck it in the bin or through the window of the computershop window. They are poorly made and the support is rubbish. If anyone wants any help on getting rma`s or any of the direct extensions to the managers at time I will be glad to help. The quicker this company is exposed to trading standards, watchdog and rogue traders the better. |

From: Dave B | posted: 10.12.2004 10:01 Total agreement with all the above messages. Due to the good write ups I read in several PC magazines and requiring a high spec machine, purchase the 5-3500 PCI Express + 19" Monitor. The price was very good. When it arrived, the Monitor was the wrong size. On checking the machine, found many things wrong and missing. When attempting to contact their Support Dept found I had to pay £1/min just to tell them what they had not sent me. I decided to send it back and have my money back, that was 7 weeks ago. Now every Friday I spend on average 50 mins to find out where my money is (£1300) to be told it is being processed. If I ask to speak to someone senior they just put me on hold. The worst service I have ever come across. I am a Senior IT Trainer who travels a great deal and often involved in consulting and training high profile and decision making IT personnel. As such I often have the ear of managers who purchase large orders. TINY has a business market and I am sure they would not want someone dedicated to informing people of how bad they are. Therefore I am going to dedicate my self to writing and contacting all the PC magazines and Newspapers that advertise TINY with material collected. So please email me on dave4133@hotmail.com with your own experience. Attempt as I am, to finding names and phone numbers of CEOs at TIME and TINY and let it be known you intend to write to WatchDog and PC magazines as I am. If you do, email me. Dave |

From: oliver | posted: 28.01.2005 21:17 Over the past few months I have been looking for a laptop, whilst looking in a computer magazines I noticed a great review on the Tiny PowerLite C835. It Looked great and with 1024mb ram 9700 128mb ATI card, wide-screen and Intel Centrino 1.7ghz processor I was just about to pick up the phone and order the laptop for £999. But first I wanted to see the laptop first so I went to Store locator on the site and found a shop near by oxford street, strange I thought as I have not seen any Tiny shops for years. But when I went to pay a visit to the shop it was named ‘The Computer Shop', after seeing the name of the store I then realised that there was a similar shop in my local high-street named The Computer Shop which closed down due to poor sales and crap staff, and before that it used to be called ‘Time Computers'. Having remembered how bad the salesman were in that shop and how little knowledge in PC's they had a turned around and headed back home. I have now found out that the company is Called Granville technology group and they own Time tiny and the computer shop, and as I remembered how bad my mates Time Pc was I think I wont go near a Tiny machine ever. |

From: Richard S | posted: 29.01.2005 14:07 Well, I have to suspend judgement on my Tiny laptop for the time being. I know I started this thread because I was very hacked off with some of the crap (and their customer service really is in need of a kick up the proverbial) but, I have to say that, after using the laptop extensively over the last two months (and I mean really using it), it's not given me a moment's problem. It crashed once but that was my fault but apart from that it's been excellent. Mmmm.... |

From: Alan | posted: 29.01.2005 22:43 Couldn't agree more!! I'm in the process of purchasing a laptop and through the Tiny website located a shop (Computer Store) some 16 miles away. What an utter waste of time - 4 laptops displayed on a rack with not a hint of any written information - model, spec., price etc. Decided to ask the youngish female assistant for some help and was shown a chart (looking like a blown up ad. from a computer mag!!) which was posted across the other side of the shop. In trying to determine how those on display related to the chart I was informed there was only 1 but she didn't know which it was - and the other 3 were not on the chart!! I didn't bother to wake the utterly bored & scruffy looking male who I presume was another enthusiastic assistant - possibly the manager?? And am I still considering buying a Tiny computer - Ha!!. |

From: Lynnsay | posted: 21.02.2005 14:45 I bought a Tiny Laptop for £1100. The specs seemed great. It's a lot cheaper than anything i could find. Also my friend works as a sales men for them and was going to buy the exact same one. So i thought I'd go ahead. It took 1 day for my money to clear, and another 5 working days for me to get my laptop which wasn't that bad I guess. It arrived fine, was packaged fine. Except I was supposed to get a free 128mb data pen with it which didn't arrive. The laptop looked lovely, powered it up fine, no problems, after half an hour the screen went black and shut its self off. No warning at all. I left it a few minutes then decided to try again. It came on very fast, loaded some software on to it. It worked great, after a few hours it went down again!!!!! Without any warning. I left it a few minutes again and it worked fine. i thought maybe it was just a few kinks in the system being worked out. I switched if off on friday night tried to power it back up on saturday morning and Nothing!!! No light on the battery charge, no power indicated by the laptop. I did a few things myself like removing the battery the dvd rewriter. Still nothing so first thing monday - today i called tech support at £1 per minute. They were usless, couldn't understand the guy to start with, i had to tell him three times i had only just gotten it. He then told me that I would have to call Pre 30 day support. So I did the agent was nice, seemed to know what he was talking about. told him what had happened etc. He said that they would come and collect it. And REPAIR it, and I would have it back within 3 to 4 working days. I said that I wanted a new one. he said that they would have to test it, and warned me that this might just be due to wear and tear. I said how can it be wear and tear when i just got it. I'm no computer novice, I know enough about the ins and outs of every system to put an expert to shame so how the hell can it be wear and tear. But we will see how long it takes them to get back to me. Thank god I have a backup files on everything and a backup pc. But after spending that amount of money on a laptop I think it should just be a straight replacement. |

From: Julia H | posted: 24.02.2005 15:52 I bought my partner a laptop in June and I have to say we are both delighted with it. I have not had to place a service call yet so can't comment on the service. However, I have no complaints so far. My neighbour, who is a software developer commented on how good he thought the laptopt was, especially compared to his! |

From: Clive Stevens | posted: 22.05.2005 11:19 I very nearly didn't buy a Tiny but after looking in all the magazines for a machine that would do all I needed for under £900 - I needed to edit home videos and wanted to play the latest games I have settled for the C835. With an ATI 9700 128Mb graphics cards, 1024Mb Ram and 1.7Mhz. Pentium M processor it zips along quite nicely and at £799 it seems to be a bargain- certainly the price was the deciding factor for me. If I could get the same specs from a different company I probably wouldn't have bought from Tiny. Reading all the bad stuff about Tiny before hand did give me some concerns but I felt that if it broke in the first 12 months it would be covered by a manufacturers guarantee and if it broke down after this I would fix it myself - I wouldn't recommend this approach to anyone who is new to computing however. |

From: Donna | posted: 04.06.2005 21:17 I ordered four laptops from Tiny a month ago and can not now get a delivery date from them. Each time I ring I get a different excuse. The laptops looked like a good deal at the time but now I am begining to think this is some sort of scam. They are making interest from my money and on the money of an unknown number of other people. I would advise against anyone ordering from Tiny until the have sorted themselves out and actually supplied the goods. I plan to cancel my order if I can't get a delivery date by the begining of next week. |
