From: Seb | posted: 17.06.2005 10:12 I've just got my Tiny £1100 laptop back (must be the same model) from repairs. This is after a £35 phone call to determine that there was a problem in the first place. I knew there was a problem, but had to do a troubleshoot over the phone at £1/min to find out what I already knew. The "over the phone" troubleshooter just got me to reset the BIOS, and delete the graphics card drivers to determine that it was a hardware fault. This of course added to my already increasing phone call cost. £60(!!) delivery later, they took my laptop in for repairs... I have just got it back, and have noticed a few things. 1. I was asked to return the laptop in it's original packaging (double boxed) and have recieved it in a single box. This means that I cannot return it again in the packaging they suggest. 2. Packaging on their behalf was VERY poor. The laptop had fallen loose of it's packaging in the box. 3. There is damage to the laptop casing. (possibly due to poor packing) 4. A screw is loose/falling out. 5. They have broken the "Warrenty Void If Seal Broken" sticker over a screw hole, and have not replaced it. 6. I appear to be missing half of my RAM, I had 1GB to start with, and I appear now to only have 512MB.. I'm pretty sure I'll find some more problems with it after I've written this. If you are even considering buying a laptop, or anything even, from Tiny, THINK AGAIN. Don't be drawn in by their cheap prices, you pay the rest later in calls to customer services, delivery and your time. PS. if you are about to send your laptop to Tiny, or have just received your laptop back from Tiny, take photos of packaging etc. etc. Keep your back covered. I have photos of both stages that I can show to them. |

From: G E Moulton | posted: 27.06.2005 22:14 I could not agree more with the sentiment that Tiny service is abysmal. My own incident is in respect of a plasma TV. When it was delivered it had a fault in the speaker ports. I had professional installers who had identified this. I was forced to tlephone an expenive premium rate number where, eventually, I convinced the man at Tiny that the TV did not meet the requirements of the Sale of Goods Act. He then arranged a replacement. This duly arrived but the carrier had no instructions about taking the defective TV back. Again I had to call to make the arrangements. When I saw my telephone bill I wrote to Brian Boys asking for a refund of my call costs as I did not see why I should ber out of pocket due to their incompetence. Mr Boys did not reply. I eventually got a response from Mr Horniman (Customer Services Manager) asking em to send him my phone bills. This I did. Six letters later all I havwe had is a telephone promise that they would send me some blank DVDs to compensate me. Of course, they have not sent any and they have ingnored a further letter. If you read this before buying from Tiny.com - DON'T!. |

From: Julian | posted: 01.09.2005 16:32 Well, I think everyone will be glad to hear Tiny have now gone bust. Everyone that is, except for the poor suckers among us (including myself) that were fooled into buying a seemingly cheap laptop now with no form of warranty. Not good with such unreliable computers. 10 months in, and my hard disk has gone faulty - purely due to it overheating through poor design. Thanks Tiny. |

From: mark | posted: 15.10.2005 09:37 help i have the the same problem as most of you, i believed i was getting a good deal with tiny.my 3 month old pc has now crashed twice. the 1st time i managed to get it back but now it gets so far and then stops. i am now using my daughters pc to try and recover something. if anyone knows where to get the recovery cd could they please let me know, i hope this will at least get windows to open so that i can recover some important family photos. the whole experience with tiny was a disaster from the start, but at least i have something to look at, even though it is only collecting dust, which is more than other customers of tiny can say. |

From: Pc mech | posted: 18.10.2005 11:13 I would be careful using a recovery Cd as they usually wipe the hard drive and re-install windows. Easiest way of recovering data (if the Hdd is not screwed) is to plug the hdd into another pc in place of the CD drive the machine sees the Hdd as an additional drive and you can drag the data off |
