From: David | posted: 02.11.2005 11:08 I seem to be having the same problems as well (with the USB's) Running a P4 2.8 with 512 ram, no other system issues, it tells me the ports are running, will occasionally recognise my flash drive, but it ignores any other usb related device. I've gotten nowhere as far as fixing it goes... any ideas? |

From: ma3a | posted: 08.05.2006 13:35 Asus p4s800, usb traumas, pci card traumas, hey guys you are not alone. I run, rather RAN a p4s800 with ht 3.0ghz new psu, TWICE, kingston ddr 3200 512 x 2, bios 1010 rev. onboard sound in the end, as it wouldn't see the pci slots, ending up with a damaged tv tuner card also. No nic would be seen, this is after about six months of use. I thought, ok, so i had a power surge, usb ports and pci cards u/s. despite best efforts and ditching the slave drives, expansion cards, different ram and changing agp card I couldn't keep a stable operating system, The knoppix live cd, now has a kernel panic, which USED to run, suddenly will not. The booting up procedure was suddenly a cross fingers and pray situ, since mostly it wouldn't detect a drive. So i dumped it. I live in a small area and i know the other users of the asus boards, they are developing issues mostly to do with rear usb ports. So far having contacted asus to request a replacement under their 3 year warranty (still waiting a reply on the warranty status on this) Have had to bounce emails off their tech support dept for over a week. Yes i am wondering too if these boards are lemons. So IF I do get a replacement, so far i am chasing three boards for replacement, will let you guys know if you are interested in chasing Asus for a new board. |

From: kyle | posted: 16.01.2007 20:34 i had a problem with the usb ports as well, i just popped in my asus cd and installed the drivers and they work fine now, just go to devise manager and find the drivers that arnt installed and then right click on it and install the drivers, worked fine ever since. to get to the device manager you have to right click on my computer and then co to the hardware tab and then to device manager from there. then just right click on all the usb icons until you find the one that says working properly but drivers ar not installed then through in the cd and right click and say install drivers, and bam it worked for me. |

From: vvaughn | posted: 11.02.2007 23:46 Check the device manager - make sure you have a device called Plug and Play Device Software Enumerator under System devices. Had a nightmare with this board as it wouldn't recognise the on board sound - maybe its a similar thing for the USBs. |
