From: Jason | posted: 17.02.2006 13:05 HELP!!!!! Until recently I could connect to the internet with out any problem at all, all be it it was through Supanet. Now I can't even get a dailing tone when the modem tries to connect. I have a "pay as you go" account with Supanet. Tried the latest suggested methods for deoptimising from Supanet/Time with no success. I've download the modem driver from conexant.com the HSFp_winxp.zip. Then changed the band files in regedit from band00, band001, band002 to oldband000, oldband001 and oldband002. But still no success... Any ideas?? Is this caused by the locking of the modem or some other issue?? Any further suggestions gratefully received. Jason [jason.talbot@virgin.net] |

From: NITKAD | posted: 29.03.2006 14:12 As you are aware the time websites are blocked, you can use the below link for deopting the modem www.tinyurl.com/b2rsu this link will be diverted to conexant web site & you get a prompt for downloading a zip file download this link on to your desktop. Just run this file & it should deopt the modem...this process will remove the existing drivers and install the manufacturer's drivers If this process doesnt work ,unistall the existing drivers and then run the setup file. This worked for me... It should work for you guyz as well. |

From: Retsrov | posted: 08.04.2006 11:43 I have been struggling with this supanet popup at startup and have found a way of getting rid of it. I downloaded and ran the deoptimizing software described previously (Ref. Reply #140 of this forum) that worked fine but did not remove the popup. Here is how I removed it from my PC. Go to My Computer\C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard then you need to delete the supanet status file. I hope it works for you guys, thanks for the help. |

From: Steve Legge | posted: 13.04.2006 11:36 The Supanet popup is easy to disable. When you turn on your computer it will popup, now i can't remember what it is called but it will say something like netcheck or supacheck in the file name, then search the file in "search" and then delete it. I have windows ME though so may be different for XP. |

From: anon | posted: 11.08.2006 21:13 God, you people dont deserve computers. The supanet optimised modem was there because on a optimised modem the speed is quicker and more reliable (even though it was 56k, speeds would avergae at 48.5k) had it been a generic modem. You can download a patch which will remove the optimistaion and if you people had bothered to look it was actually on the website under technical support. The £1/min lines are charged at that rate because if it was free, every tom, dick and harry would be ringing up to get support on something stupid (how do i turn my pc on). Time computers targeted the family market, the family people struggle to turn their pcs on, let alone getting it running, thats why its a £1/min, they are a business not a charity. If you dont know how to use a pc why buy one, would you buy a car if you did not know how to drive. No tech support will hold your hand and support you. If you want good tech support buy the warranty or go to a bigger and better company, good support isnt cheap. 90% of the problems caused were buy end users who didn't know their earhole from their a***hole and could not use a pc. Software issues, downloading rubbish, installing dodgy programs, what do you expect. Why not stop bitchin and try to learn about computers. |

From: anon | posted: 13.09.2006 10:49 Fair play mate, its about time someone spoke their mind, if these moaning wallys actually used the internet for what it was invented for (ie: INFORMATION) and learned how to read, I REPEAT IN BIG LETTERS ( INFORMATION ) then maybe there wouldn`t be so many problems with PC`s that are probably the easiest to fix. Just goes to show how intelligent people can be, (lets see how long it takes for them to figure it out). Have fun. |

From: Mr Average | posted: 08.12.2006 21:18 A message for #145 and #146. I hope your car/washing machine/hoover/tv breaks down. There is plenty of info on the internet to show you how they work and plenty of forums to advise you how to fix them. Let's see how cocky you are then! P.S I've worked in the computer industry for the last 20 years and have no problems at all with fixing complicated problems whether software or hardware. We all had to start somewhere and even the easiest problem seemed difficult at first. Following instructions of repairing a system32 config problem error where windows won't boot up is difficult for a beginner, even with the instructions, so it's not as black and white as you make out to just get the info off the internet and bob's your uncle. You try rebuilding a car engine. It's all on the internet, as you say. My money is on that you don't know how to change a timing belt! Yes, I'm a trained mechanic as well, by the way! |
