From: Jenny Holding | posted: 09.08.2004 11:55 I'm on my second and last TIME. Had a recent power cut which has disabled use of PC. Seems I have to call technical help desk for 10-15 mins at £1 a minute and order a RELOAD disk at a quoted cost of £60.00 User Guide quotes: " The Reload CD has been developed by Time in response to customer's requests for a quick, safe and, above all, simply way to restore the software on the PC to its 'out of the box' condition. Designed especially for the new or inexperienced user, it is easy to use, requires no special knowledge or technical expertise and will fix most software problems in a matter of minutes. Plus it can save you the time, trouble and expense of returning the PC or having to call out Customer Care lines. The Reload CD is normally supplied as standard with all TimeCover support packs. If you are not covered by a support pack, you may obtain the Reload CD directly from our sales department for a small extra charge". Not worth the paper it is printed on. Small extra charge of £59.99 is rubbish. Anyone else got this problem? Jenny Holding Cheltenham |

From: Jenny Holding | posted: 11.08.2004 14:01 I must eat my words, I got a result after sending an email to the Sales Director with a copy and letter to the MD in Burnley. 24 hours later I received an email from the Sales Dept saying that as a gesture of goodwill, a free of charge RELOAD disc is on its way to me in the post. Watch this space! Jenny |

From: Tim D | posted: 12.08.2004 20:57 Supanet and Tiny are at it again. I can't De-optimize my modem and have read through all the fixes on this website. None of them work now. They seem to have changed the way of de-optimizing the modem. I've contacted customer services (Took about 3 attempts to get someone to answer after falling asleep on the phone!!!) and they instructed me to choose E-MAIL button on the supanet website. From then on I've got totally lost as the customer services guy told me to follow the instructions. Guess what, No instructions. Has anyone got this problem at the moment and does anyone know what to do. Please help so that I can start bombarding Supanet, Time and Tiny with abusive e-mails using my own ISP not theirs. |

From: gamesleuth | posted: 29.08.2004 16:35 Re the Time Modem problem, Supanet have recently changed their dial up number to 0844. As soon as I go through the rigmarole of changing and press the manual update button when it attempts to dial up on the new number I get error 775. I have tried de-optimising but it defaults the number to 0844 and fails so I can't even do that. It has cost me a fortune ringing Supanet who seem unable to sort my problem out, is there any other way of doing this that is not too difficult. |

From: insidervillain | posted: 30.08.2004 21:42 Call customer services, demand a refund for the PC because you were not aware of this optimisation and tell them you know of a deopt disk that they are keeping a secret about which takes a day or two to send out but won't because the phone calls that they receive about deopt generate revenue for the call centre. It's a lucrative money racket which they have employed on basis of security issue with rogue diallers. Anyway, that's enough said I'm sure. |

From: anon | posted: 02.09.2004 15:04 to deoptimize the modem, just download the modem drivers from the manufactures website, and install them, but first remove the old drivers. |

From: Reg Pengelly | posted: 12.09.2004 08:47 Instructions for Deoptimising Supanet Modem as at 12.09.04 The procedure has changed. Do I regret buying a Tiny computer? Tiny's dedicated depot line is 0870 8303281 ; only took 50 minutes for them to answer!! How much piped music can one man listen to? First - check that the registry file is suitable. Click start & run and in the open box type regedit. This takes you to the registry, click the plus signs against HKEY Current user / Software/Supadialler/ Sign up URL. The number after the = sign should read 70171 (not 00540). It can be amended by double clicking the file, which opens an edit facility. You need to follow the Supanet procedure for signing on to a pay as you go account. Otherwise you cannot access the depot facility (or the web). Then - Open the Supanet home page, at the top left click the link for “password reminder”. In the next box insert your supanet name (include @supanet.com) and password, then click continue. This takes you to options including the one for deoptimising. Click the button & continue then answer the rude and impertinent questions in the next box, then continue. Close the internet connection & wait 15 minutes. Then reconnect, close the home page and this discloses the Pop up for “Options”, click on manual update the box will indicate “update complete” . Then disconnect and leave for another 15 mins before using new ISP software. This worked for me and should do for you until they change the procedure again and rake in another fortune on premium service calls from people who thought Tiny was a good deal! |

From: Dougie | posted: 12.09.2004 23:00 Time & peripherals: When I bought my Time computer a year ago, it came with a 'free' Lexmark Z605 colour printer, which, to all intents and purposes I had successfully installed, but, press 'Print' and nothing happens!! Having experienced the 'Supanet' new dial-up problems myself (I was up to 'Supanet 43'!), but still no Internet access until now (with the help of these pages), I'm just wondering if Time/Supanet's 'monopoly' on the net/ISP situation also extends to peripherals - I note from Time's User Guide, they only mention 'Epson C42' printers, so does that mean no other models are compatible ? If so, do I have some comeback on the retail outlet that sold me the package? Anyone out there with a similar experience ? |

From: ChrisB | posted: 13.09.2004 12:13 Does not work on my laptop I just bought from Tiny. There is no file "Supadialler" under "current user/software". I tried also one of the previously mentioned version to register as "pay as you go" and de-optimise" over the "main dialler" menue. That just leads you into a short circuit on their web site unable to click on "option" in the "Main dialler"" |
