From: adrian | posted: 29.03.2004 12:34 The bad news is the MSN Messenger uses dynamic ports that is you have to make big holes in your firewall (unless you have a UPnP-enabled firewall). For more details go to: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/natfw.mspx To conclude, you need to open the following ports: 1. UDP ports between 5004 and 65535 to allow signalling and media streams; 2. TCP ports between 6891 and 6900 to allow file transfer 3. 3389 port for remote assistance I hope it will help, Adrian. |

From: Kyzlie | posted: 04.06.2004 04:14 I'm the same, having trouble with norton and messenger.....I've read all the responses but am still highly confussed as to how to overcome this problem as I don't know my way around computer hard drives that well, therefore all the 'ports' information was nothing but bad jibberish to me. Is there any other way - in english- around this? |

From: Lady Wolfe | posted: 12.07.2004 02:14 here's my problem...I was using MSN Messenger 6.2 all fine and dandy last night (July 10, 2004) today (July 11, 2004) absolutely nothing...and I didn't change any settings, I didn't download any new programs, I didn't delete anything off the HD, I didn't do anything to the computer between the time it was working to when it wasn't. I'm getting the same error message about this error code 0x81000365 about firewalls and I don't have a firewall. So if there could be someone out there who could be of assistance it would be greatly appreciated. |

From: Lance | posted: 10.08.2004 04:48 Go into ur firewall eg. Norton personal firewall, zone alarm, ETC and give MSN MEssenger FULL access. U have to ADD msn messenger to the Allow list. some firewalls say u have to click on PERMIT ALL or ALLOW ALL. As long as u go into ur firewall and ADD msn messenger to the list u'll be fine. |
