launch blurb (14/06/1998)
Launch! Little more than a month after the first planning meeting, the UK's newest electronic computer magazine is live on the Web. IT Reviews is a totally independent site aimed at bringing honest reviews to you, the IT consumer. Whether you're buying for a company or for your home, or even if you're just curious and want to keep up with the latest developments, this site will have something to offer you. In addition, IT Reviews was designed from the start to be a low-bandwidth site with no Java, JavaScript, ActiveX, frames, tables, DHTML or any other add-ons to the basic HTML. You should be able to view this site using any browser. If you can't, let us know and we'll do our best to correct it.
Unlike most other such sites, which are spin-offs from printed computer magazines, IT Reviews is completely Web-based. This means that we can publish our reviews immediately (as opposed to a four week delay with some sites, which will only publish online once they've got the money from their printed magazines). And because our reviews are written by professional IT journalists, many of whom have worked for, or are still working for, the major national IT magazines in the UK, you can trust what we say. If a product is good, we'll say it's good. If it isn't, we'll tell you why not.
We welcome comments from our readers, as well as contact from companies wishing to advertise on this site, and from manufacturers/vendors/distributors wanting to submit products for review. Click here to go to the contacts page, which also contains further details of this site.
Although the review listings on this Web site are rather sparse at the moment, over the next few months they will build up into a wide-ranging and detailed source of information on all things IT-related. Please bookmark www.itreviews.co.uk, and come back often to read honest reviews of the latest products and services that this industry has to offer.
