15-inch LCD monitor (13/09/2000)
The A610 from Microscan was introduced earlier this year, replacing the 6L model at a more competitive price. It has a good wide angle of view - up to 160 degrees in both planes - making it ideal for viewing by more than one person. This is particularly useful if the display is used in training or as an information screen in a public place. The monitor comes with both desktop and the standard VESA fittings. These are used for mounting in display areas and enable secure installation and easy swap out in the event of a problem.
The colour saturation is high, falling off slightly at the extremities, and producing rich blacks and vibrant colours. The OSD (On Screen Display menu) has a good range of adjustments in a selection of languages. One useful feature is the 'Super Auto Adjust'. This attempts to apply the best screen setting for the particular screen mode you're using. We tried several settings, and the auto one produced the best for each mode. Screen set up can be affected by your ambient light conditions so you will still need the fine adjustment to get proper colour rendition.
The monitor only consumes 35 watts under normal use and this drops to under 5 in standby mode. This is a really cool monitor at a reasonable price.
