Verdict
15-inch LCD monitor (13/09/2000)
Iiyama has a considerable reputation in the manufacture of CRT monitors and the Pro Lite does nothing to damage its image in the LCD arena. It's aimed at the multimedia market and as such comes complete with onboard speakers and a USB hub. One socket connects the monitor to the USB port on the back of your PC (if you haven't got a connector they are available as a plug-in card for around £15.00). This leaves four separate USB sockets on the monitor that can be used for speakers, digital cameras, scanners and a whole range of other new USB products that are appearing.
Build quality is very high, with a solid base and full VESA compliance for both arm and bracketed wall mounting. Other useful features include an automatic set up button, reasonable OSD controls and a nifty headphone socket mounted on the monitor. The automatic set up routine was almost spot on, and with full Plug-and-Play compatibility it's very quick to set up. Screen colours are good, with reasonably saturated colours extending over a wide viewing angle in both horizontal and vertical directions. A test file is included on the distribution CD to set up and fine-tune the colour adjustment.
This is a good quality monitor that won't disappoint - a couple of hundred pounds cheaper and it would be exceptional.
