15-inch LCD monitor (13/09/2000)
Mitsubishi produces a vast selection of monitors and the LXA565W is a general purpose TFT display designed for desktop use. It comes with a standard PC cable; an alternative adapter is available for Mac users, which has a set of dip switches used to set up the connector for the whole Mac range. A USB kit is also available separately and this will give you a small USB hub for connecting other external devices.
The on screen display controls of this display are among the best we've come across and enable adjustment of just about everything, including clock phase and colour temperature. We weren't over impressed on the viewing angle, though. Sitting directly in front, the image is fine, but does start to fall off quickly when viewed at an increasing angle. On the plus side, this makes it ideal for the single user who doesn't want anyone else viewing his or her screen. In use the monitor installs as a standard Windows Plug-and-Play monitor and works up to 1024 x 786 resolution.
A year ago this monitor would have compared favourably with its competitors, however nothing stands still and many of the latest LCD monitors produce better results at a comparable price.
