15-inch LCD monitor (13/09/2000)
The outstanding feature of the Samsung monitor is its ability to rotate. This was never a viable option with CRT monitors but enables a LCD monitor to be used in both landscape and portrait mode. This is ideal for working on an A4 sheet of text as the whole page is easily legible on screen.
This monitor comes 'Multi Media Equipped' and has a microphone built into the case along side its sound controls and video inputs. You can let Windows install standard Plug-and-Play drivers but a dedicated set are provide on one of the CDs supplied with the monitor, enabling the display to be pushed up to 1280 x 1024. The other CD contains the 'Pivot Software' that installs an icon on your taskbar to control image rotation when the monitor is used in portrait mode.
It's not the quickest monitor to set up but a little perseverance will produce great results, albeit with a fairly restricted viewing angle and the screen sloping backwards to get the fullest blacks and colour rendition. It's not a bad monitor but we've seen better for less money. You may be paying for the rotational novelty.
