Verdict
15-inch LCD monitor (13/09/2000)
If you're looking for a fan, go to Selwyn. They are famous as suppliers of cooling equipment; this is their first diversification into the monitor market and one well worth making. We looked at the full multimedia monitor but for an extra forty pounds you can have a rotating screen as well. The monitor is fully Plug-and-Play and the automatic on screen set up adjusted the image very accurately at the standard 1024 x 768 resolution. The image quality is high but doesn't quite achieve full colour saturation at the claimed 70 degree viewing angle.
It comes with onboard 10-watt speakers, a built-in microphone and all the cables needed to connect to a sound card. An extra port is supplied to connect the inbuilt 2-port USB hub to your PC. Installation and set up are relatively simple with the on screen settings capable of being 'saved' in its own memory.
Selwyn has put together a monitor with a comprehensive range of features. The controls and connections are well thought out and both the audio output and screen quality are above average. With screen rotation and a more realistic price than most of the others in this review, this must be worthy of consideration.
