The launch of a new rock-based rhythm game for the Nintendo Wii and DS has been announced by Disney Interactive Studios.
Ultimate Band lets the player live the life of a rock star, beginning playing in a garage and working their way up to huge stadium gigs (although there's no mention of driving Ferraris into swimming pools). Drums, guitar and bass will all be playable, and real extroverts can take on the role of front-man.
Whatever instrument's your poison (or indeed Guns N' Roses), you'll be plinking away via the DS stylus or Wii Remote; there's no sign of any expensive peripheral instruments here.
Disney has drafted in London-based music consultants, Radial Music, to help populate the game's track list with a variety of songs, from classic sixties rock through to contemporary alternative and emo. Players will also be able to create their own tunes, using the DS stylus to lay down instrument tracks and apply mixing effects.
Ultimate Band will be rocking a venue near you in Autumn 2008.
