D-Link has marked an aggressive move forward in the Draft N wireless network router market, with the announcement of a price cut on its entry-level model. With the official 802.11n standard still to be ratified, there's remained some reluctance from people to upgrade perfectly serviceable, ratified 802.11g equipment. Yet the improvement in draft N standard wireless equipment has moved at pace, and now that's being met by lower price tags.
The DIR-615 wireless home router, as a result, will now sell for a recommended price of £54.99, with an eleven year warranty to back it up. It supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 wireless security standards, and the key advantage of N-rated equipment is the potential for faster speeds and broader broadcast ranges. The price cut takes effect immediately.
