SouthPeak Games has just announced X-Blades, a 3D action game slated for release later this year on the PC and next generation consoles.
X-Blades is an anime styled, third-person combat game with an emphasis on cinematic impact. The heroine of the piece, Ayumi, is a seductive but deadly warrior (just for a change) who employs guns, swords and magic to defeat her foes (possibly after distracting them with her fishnet stockings first). An all-action affair is promised, with high speed, unrelenting hack-and-slash gameplay.
“We are big fans of anime and that was really our inspiration for X-Blades,” commented James Seaman, Managing Director of developer Topware Interactive. “Our goal was to create stylistic characters and artwork and to mix that bombastic visual style with lightning fast action. The result is a killer title that gamers and animation fans won't be able to put down.”
Hopefully the resulting game won't travel too far down the road of style over content.
